Default Ferrari builds one-off hybrid F12 TRS roadster

When Ferrari makes an open-top version of one of its V12 super-GTs, it typically comes in particularly low production numbers. Maranello only made 448 examples of the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina, 559 of the 575 Superamerica and 599 units of the 599 SA Aperta. What we have here, however, is not just the first F12 roadster we've seen yet, but also the most exclusive.

Called the F12 TRS, it's obviously based on the F12 Berlinetta, but with some key modifications. Not the least of which is the open-top body-style (which may or may not have a folding roof mechanism of some kind), coupled with some unique bodywork like a cowled rear deck and reshaped hood. But the TRS (which we can only assume is some tribute to the 250 Testa Rossa) is also said to pack an F1-derived KERS hybrid assist, presumably similar to the one in the LaFerrari – or more poignantly, in the 599 HY-KERS concept – to give the 6.3-liter V12 even more juice than the prodigious 730 horsepower it produces in stock Berlinetta form.

The vehicle, apparently spotted in the garage at the company's Fiorano test track, appears to be a one-off built by Ferrari's Special Projects division for one discerning and evidently very wealthy customer who is said to have paid $4.2 million for the privilege.

First Ferrari Tailor – Made Centre of Asia Pacific Opens in Shanghai

Jun 18th 2014,Shanghai -- Ferrari's first Tailor-Made Centre in Asia Pacific opens in Shanghai, China, to provide exclusive tailor-made service to Ferrari owners. The brand-new centre is located on West Beijing Road, one of the most prosperous areas in Shanghai, with world-class facilities and provide the best services to create bespoke Ferraris through unique combinations of the many options available. Mr. Edwin Fenech, President and CEO of Ferrari Greater China unveiled the Tailor-Made Centre which marked another new milestone for Ferrari in the Asia Pacific.

To celebrate the opening of this new centre, Ferrari designed two special Tailor-Made V12 flagship models to share the legendary brand spirit in Chinese cultural way – F12 Berlinetta Polo Edition and FF Dressage Edition, with the Year of the Horse logo on the steering wheel and centre console. These two tailor-made models are inspired by horse racing, which was originated from the historical noble sports in Europe, perfectly integrating with the art of Ferrari Tailor-Made service, representing the unique and renowned heritage of the prancing horse in terms of elegance and passion in speed.

The F12 Berlinetta Polo Edition in the newly decorated Tailor-Made Centre is under spotlight during the opening ceremony. Inspired by the polo, this V12 sports model is customized to showcase the power and speed. The body is painted in the colour of Bianco Italia Opaco with special design of navy blue racing stripes on the bonnet, demonstrating the authentic Ferrari's racing DNA in typical Italian style. The interior is particularly consistent to the exterior theme with paralleled racing lines on the high-quality leather upholstery. Carbon-fibre elements are well interpreted for the sports sense of this F12 Berlinetta.

FF Dressage Edition is inspired by the elegant equestrian sport. It is painted in Black Piano Nero while the cabin is trimmed with reddish saddle brown leather. The grid-pattern sewing style in the front seats makes it more comfortable and composing during the ride, which is essential for a versatile 4RM GT car.

"Each Ferrari is unique. Ferrari's customization tradition began in 1950's when the brand just started." said Mr. Edwin Fenech, "the Greater China is the second largest market for Ferrari, the Tailor-Made service will provide top-class services to our exclusive customers with unique luxurious experiences, perfectly meet the growing demands of more creative personalization among Chinese customers."

Default Ferrari reveals one-off F12 TRS at Sicily cavalcade

A new one-off debuts in the Ferrari Cavalcade 2014

Maranello, 22nd June 2012 – One of the 90 cars taking part in the third edition of the Ferrari Cavalcade was the F12 TRS, a one-off custom design making its public debut on Sicilian soil.

Based on the F12berlinetta, the car was developed at a client's request as an extreme, two-seater, open-top sports barchetta. One of the initial inspirations for the project was the 1957 250 Testa Rossa. In fact, the F12 TRS is Flavio Manzoni and the Ferrari Style Centre team's modern, innovative take on that legendary car's spirit and pays homage to it in its moniker.

Like all one-off Ferraris, the F12 TRS is the product of Ferrari's now-classic approach of creating a truly integrated design. It thus has the same exceptional performance figures as the F12berlinetta including 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.1 s and 0-200 km/h acceleration in 8.1 s, thanks to the massive 740 cv and maximum torque of 690 Nm at 9,000 rpm unleashed by its 6262 cm3 V12 engine.

From the leading edge of the typically sharp Ferrari nose, aggressively sculpted forms flow back over the bonnet, while a low, wraparound windscreen forms a long dark band of glass in contrast to the car's body. The V12 engine's signature red cylinder heads are visible through a window in the engine lid, a concept inspired as much by the front-engined Ferrari sports cars of the 1950s as our more recent mid-engined berlinettas. The aerobridge, introduced on the F12berlinetta, has been given a new treatment in this car, resulting in a sculptural design that runs back from the flanks along the entire length of the car.

The design of the rear marks an evolution of the T-shaped graphic that characterises the F12's truncated tail and is influenced to some extent by the cabin shape with long fuselage fairings running behind the headrests into the rear spoiler. A smooth ramp runs from the central tunnel too, linking interior and exterior and creating a longitudinal aerodynamic channel to deliver an innovative Venturi effect completed by a vent under the spoiler.

The cockpit is light and pared-back to the barest driving essentials, creating a sense of powerful, uncompromising sportiness with no concessions to superfluous comfort. Even some of the controls for the likes of the air conditioning, for instance, have been cut back, while the glove compartment, central air vents, mats, audio system, window controls and odds-and-ends holders have all been removed. Most of the materials used aboard, such as black matt carbon-fibre, leather and Alcantara, are technical, while the same multi-layer red paint developed specifically for the exterior adorns the central tunnel and the door panels.

Although inspired by the traditional Rosso Corsa, the new bodywork colour was developed using multi-layer and micalised paint technologies.
