Why is Subaru the only mainstream car maker to offer AWD sedans?

I give Suby a lot of credit for their drivetrain format.

I just wish they would take the Legacy upmarket some (more power and more content).

I came close to buying a Legacy GT in 05 but it was so far behind the IS 350 in a bunch of ways (particularly content) I passed on it.

If they did I could see them eating into the A4 market in the crappy weather climates that I live/lived in.

The auto industry is full of mysteries like why no AWD Corolla (you could get it on the now departed Matrix).

Let's not forget Audi offers a FWD A3, A4, and A6, either. Some buyers simply don't care for, what I would consider, the single most defining characteristic of the brand. (Some may say the grille or LEDs, but I'm an engineer!)
