Seeing a TON of these around...I probably saw 4-5 today alone. I like them, and they seem to be selling well.

I test drove one a few weeks ago, wasn't impressed at all especially giving that they were asking close to $900 in monthly lease payments. I don't see any on the streets and for a good reason. Why lease it when you can get some much more of a car from other brands for $900 a month in lease payments. I told the sales guy that i would be laughed at if i lease this thing for $900 over a Range Rover, a fully loaded X5 5.0 or equivalent. The car just lags in every category, cheap on the inside, looks okay from the outside, there was nothing that really stood out. Yes it supposedly very safe, but that's it.
In my view it best competes with Dodge Durangos, Toyota Highlanders of the world instead of GLEs, X5s or Q7s. I may be mistaken but i've never seen MotorTrend, Caranddriver, etc. include XC models in their comp tests with the Premium SUVs.

As for the competition, FYI you can absolutely not lease a Range Rover or a fully loaded X5 5.0 for $900 a month. Impossible without a ton of money down.

Not sure if these rates are comparable nationally or just specific to NY because of increased competition.
Like you've mentioned if and when the lease rates for XC90 decline to $500s, would certainly consider leasing one.

I should have been more specific, i was referring to Range Rover Sport. And yes, all these cars can be leased in the high $800 to low $900, with very little down. We've been leasing these cars in my family at these rates for a while, the latest was a 2014 X6 5.0 loaded at $850. Unfortunately the car was totaled and my brother just leased a 2015 X5 35 premium at $690.

$0 down both vehicles are over $1,000 a month when leasing from the manufacturer. I have a coworker who has a new Range Rover Sport. His lease payment is $1,200. I have another coworker who has a ~$65k X5 and her lease payment is about $850.
You mention the X6 which is a very slow selling model, and the 2014 was the last year of the last generation. Do you mean X6 or X5?

Pole Position
I visited a RR dealer a few months ago and I was told lower equipped RR Sports lease for around $1k with about $5k down with no discount on MSRP.
Also vistited a BMW dealer for the X5. I got quoted about $750 with $3k down for a mid equipped X5 I-6 with a few thousand off MSRP.

obviously they are not going to give big discounts on brand new vehicle... sales are good and thats great for Volvo.
They really needed a big hit in XC90 while they are working on other new models, their profit margins even with new XC90 are just 2.2%... new XC60 and rest of the lineup should help a lot with that.
