Will drop.
Hoovey is a great resource here, you might disagree with him but never "idiotic".

Like I said, point me to another car that has as much power as the CLA 45 AMG, gets fuel economy numbers like the CLA 45 AMG, and matches the performance of the CLA 45 AMG.

I can't think of one either, but the numbers are almost too good to be true, especially with the low compression ratio. If real-world fuel economy estimates hold up this will be a truly incredible engine in terms of power density and efficiency. Also not relevant to compare hybrid with non-hybrid. Apples to oranges there. I really do hope the fuel economy numbers hold up, because with that minuscule fuel tank these things will have to hit the gas pump a few times per week!

I am too lazy to look up EVO numbers out of curiosity.

Edmunds Pits New Audi A3 2.0 TFSI Against Mercedes CLA250
German luxury carmakers Mercedes and Audi have founded a new niche in the $30,000-ish price segment in the U.S. with their CLA and A3 sedan models respectively, essentially targeting buyers who are willing to trade off the amenities of a bigger mid-size model for a smaller compact car with a premium name.
In the following video review from Edmunds, which we should warn you, contains more footage of the two journalists talking about the two models than scenes of the cars in question, the reviewers lay out the pros and cons of the 2015 Audi A3 2.0 TFSI Quattro and Mercedes-Benz CLA 250.
Ingolstadt's more traditional A3 sedan has a 220hp 2.0-liter turbo driving all-four wheels through a six-speed automated dual-clutch transmission and is priced from $32,900 (excluding an $895 destination and handling fee). Audi also offers a front-wheel drive 170hp A3 1.8 TFSI that starts from $29,900.
Mercedes followed a different direction for the CLA that apes the styling of the bigger and more luxurious CLS. The base CLA 250 starts at $29,900 ($30,825 with delivery fees) and sports a 208hp 2.0-liter turbo paired to a seven-speed semi-automatic dual-clutch transmission turning the front wheels.
So, which one would you have?

From what I've heard, the CLA45 is stupid fast on the street. People have said it really goes like a raped ape however... Its not the best on the track, people have been saying that the transmission isn't tuned for fast downshifts. It appears that problems is across the board with all amg's, My CLS63 is great on the street however I wouldn't take it to track and the transmission has a mind of its own.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake spied testing in Dubai
Should be launched in the following months
The Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake has been spied undergoing final testing on the crowded streets of Dubai, UAE.
It's been quite a while since we last talked about the CLA SB but now our friends at IndianAutosBlog have managed to snap a few shots of a prototype testing in Dubai. Looking essentially like a downsized CLS Shooting Brake, the car spotted here will be the fourth addition to the A-Class family after a hatchback, sedan and crossover.
We already know it will receive the AMG treatment like its three siblings but that will likely happen in 2015, following the introduction of the standard CLA Shooting Brake later this year. Although it will be most practical A-Class-based model, the trunk opening appears to be quite narrow which might impose a problem when inserting voluminous cargo.

Mercedes Reveals and Details CLA Shooting Brake

Hardly anybody will buy the new CLA Shooting Brake for the extra space and rear headroom it offers – most will sign their name up for one because of its looks. Mercedes boasts that with it it’s created “a whole new class of vehicle,” even though we don’t see what they’re on about.
The CLA Shooting Brake’s boot has grown from 471 liters with the rear seats up to 495 liters. Should you fold them down, space increases to 1354 liters, although you can simply move them in the more steeply raked “cargo position,” and that grants you a total volume of 595 liters.
Engines available are two diesel and three petrol units. The two diesels are the 200 and 220 CDI, both using the same 2.1-liter engine with either 136 or 177 hp. The petrol engine range kicks off with the 180 model, which uses a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 122 hp, while at the other end of the scales there’s the 250 which can also be had with all-wheel drive – it uses a 2.0-liter turbo engine that pumps out 211 hp and can reach 100 km/h / 62 mph in under 7 seconds.
At launch, Mercedes will be offering a limited edition OrangeArt Edition model. It uses “orange trim in conjunction with selected equipment features, such as the AMG Line and Night package, (that) emphasise the sporty flair of this model. A distinctive sporty look is also ensured by 45.7 cm (18-inch) AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, painted in black with an orange rim flange, together with orange highlights on the front and rear aprons. The bi-xenon headlamps feature orange highlight rings.”

Mercedes Introduces 355 HP CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake
Click here to view more photos
Mercedes’ fourth “high-performance compact car” is the CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake. It’s pretty much the same car as the regular CLA 45, but with extra rear headroom and cargo space, featuring the same 355 hp (360 PS) 2.0-liter turbo engine as before, along with all-wheel drive.
It gives up one tenth to 100 km/h / 62 mph to the sedan, achieving a claimed time of 4.7 seconds.
As for efficiency, it returns an identical 6.9 l/100km (34 mpg US) to both the CLA45 sedan, as well as the A45.
The rest is standard CLA45 fare, with the exception that the CLA45 AMG Shooting Brake, just like the non-AMG car, can be had as a OrangeArt Edition special model.
It adds “splashes of orange in the AMG radiator grille, on the exterior mirrors and in the rear apron trim together with the Night package featuring black design features and chrome tailpipes produce a stunning overall effect,” while the “colour-coordinated highlight rings around the bi-xenon headlamps make them stand out in spectacular style, too.”

Mercedes-Benz CLA and CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake revealed
Deliveries start in March
After months of spy images, Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the CLA and CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake.
Looking as expected like a mini CLS Shooting Brake, Mercedes-Benz's entry-level wagon is 4630mm long, 1777mm wide and 1435mm tall and thanks to the elongated rear end the cargo capacity has increased by 25 liters compared to the CLA to 495 liters. The rear seats can adopt a more steeply raked "cargo" position in order to increase luggage area to 595 liters while folding them down will provide 1,354 liters and the width of the luggage compartment measures 1328mm.
Upon launch, the CLA Shooting Brake will be offered with a four-cylinder 2.1-liter turbodiesel engine delivering 136 HP (100 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) in the CLA 200 CDI and 177 HP (130 kW) & 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) in the CLA 220 CDI. The gasoline engine lineup kicks off with a 1.6-liter rated at 122 HP (90 kW) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) in the CLA 180 and 156 HP (115 kW) & 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) in the CLA 200. Up next is a 2.0-liter with 211 HP (155 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) in the CLA 250 which can also be had with an optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The range-topping Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake makes use of the familiar four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine delivering 360 HP (265 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) between 2,250 and 5,000 rpm. Output of the engine is sent to a 4MATIC system through a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT gearbox, which enables the hot wagon hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds before reaching an electronically-capped top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Deliveries of the Mercedes-Benz CLA & CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake will commence March next year.
