Hoovey Review: 2013 Lexus GS450h
#32
450h is hard to market until you try it - paper specs are not enough to sell you the car... they should have put that engine into LS as well... I wonder if that will be one of the updated powertrains coming in 2015, or if the focus will be on lower end (new prius comes out with new hybrid system).

Let's hope. 14 months is still a long time, assuming they still produce it. The one I'll want will have to be special order because I'll want HUD - and special order regardless since my dealer doesn't stock them anymore. And who knows what 2015 will bring to the equation. Yeah it's one car I don't see modified - always nice to be the first. That said because I like the S+ dampeners, springs and wheels are likely. I wouldn't want it slammed anyway since comfort is now at the forefront of my needs. But I'm getting ahead of myself here, RC, NX and RX will garner all the attention for a few months before official GS news is released.
Good point. It's a car you have to experience. Like you say, paper specs even with it's good mpg for the power doesn't resonate well for people paying $70,000 when a A7 with more style is within reach of that price. Agreed, a LS450h would be a good "base" engine while the next gen LS and powertrains are being developed. First I've heard of this Prius powertrain upgrade. Anymore information on it like displacement, hp or predicted mpg?

Sure, you can put different wheels/tires on them (or do a custom paint job), but, in general, it's hard to modify hybrid powertrains. They're too complex, and basically run because of a lot of interconnected electronic systems.

It's fun to visualize, but I'll worry about getting a GSh in a year. As it stands if I do end up with one I won't put nearly as much into it as I did with my IS

Mostly wheels, bodykits, suspension, few custom interior items are available for Lexus. Performance mods are usually just bolt ons like intake, exhaust and headers. For the 3rd generation GS450h TOM's Japan offers a supercharger.

Too bad that it probably costs well over $10k

Here's the link to the TOM's SC. Obviously there is no price listing

Great review Hoovey!
LOL. When I first got the GS, I hated these rims. I tried to get them swapped by the dealer for the Premium package 18s, but I couldn't get it done (end of the month, december to remember, I basically stole it...wasn't going to happen).
BUT...as I have had the car they actually have grown on me to the point where now dare I say I like them. They are a PITA to clean, but in person they actually have a lot of dimension and are interesting.

Personally:
I'd like to know the retard who decided to include those ***** wheels as part of the manufacturer wheel rim lineup for the 4th generation Lexus GS.

Thanks
It's an odd spoke for sure. I'd personally like to see some sort of similar mesh spoke like the LFA Ring' edition
