looks like the 99% same exterior same sheet metal to me just face lifted......new front and rear bumpers/tails and headlights....gonna be a sales fail IMO for that reason alone (former 2008 TT owner here). Interior is new yes, but that's not enough.

I agree, this car will do little to help the company's bottom line. It's the same basic body since 2001. Everyone who has wanted one, has already been there done that. The Mini Cooper and VW Beetle have similar challenges and fails. If I were Audi, I'd direct the TT into an entirely new direction... mini R8. Both have the same stance/proportions. Getting stuck in a 2001-era rut to stay true to a heritage is a financial deadend.

On a sidenote, about the only great thing to come from the new TT is the front LED DRL's. This will likely filter on down to the rest of the Audi line-up. They are pretty cool and get away from everyone's straight line or outlined DRL LED's.

Default 2016 Audi TT Debuts At 2014 Geneva Motor Show: Live Photos And Video

Audi’s third-generation TT is finally here, blending lines from the iconic original with those of the sportier second-generation model. The new car will go on sale in the U.S. early next year, as a 2016 model, initially in TT and TTS trim.

The front of the new TT is dominated by horizontal lines. The single-frame grille is much broader and flatter than that of the previous model, with a single line crossing it. On the TTS, the grille is even more pronounced thanks to a shiny finish for the slats. There are also two large intakes on the TTS that give it an aggressive look similar to that of the outgoing TT RS model.

At the rear, horizontal lines give the car a wide and planted look. An automatic rear spoiler is standard, rising at speeds above 75 mph, and also fitted to the cars is an integrated rear diffuser. Like all Audi S models, the TTS exhales through four oval tailpipes while the regular TT gets a pair of pipes.

The 2016 TT stretches 13.7 feet in length, which makes it the same size as its predecessor. However, the wheelbase has grown by 1.46 inches to 8.2 feet. One new characteristic is the available LED elements for both the head and tail-lights (xenon headlights remain standard). On overseas models, Audi will also be offering its Matrix LED headlight technology that allows the high-beam light path to be controlled using 12 individual LEDs.

While the exterior of the car hasn’t changed much, the cabin design has dramatically. The highlight is the new ‘virtual cockpit’ where all information, including infotainment as well as speedometer and tachometer details, is presented through a fully digital 12.3-inch display located behind the steering wheel. This replaces the need for a central MMI monitor, though the passenger can still get feedback on climate settings through a digital display located directly in the air vents.

A horizontal control panel is still located in the center column. It features 3D-designed toggle switches that activate the hazard warning lights, the Audi drive select performance enhancer and the assistance functions.

The standard sports seats in the new Audi TT have integrated head restraints and are positioned lower than those in the predecessor model, and are lighter too. As an option--and as standard in the TTS--there are newly developed S sport seats with highly contoured and pneumatically adjustable side sections that provide even better support for hard cornering. A 2+2 layout remains, but it’s near impossible to fit a regular-sized adult in the back.

Underpinning the car is the Volkswagen Group’s flexible MQB platform designed for small and medium cars. The structure of the 2016 TT features a mix of steel and aluminum. The curb weight of the lightest variant is just 2,711 pounds, which is about 110 pounds lighter than the outgoing model.

The front suspension is based on a McPherson design, while an independent four-link setup is used in the rear. One particular highlight is the new third generation of the adaptive magnetic ride damper control system, which is standard on the TTS and optional on the TT. Another highlight is the speed-sensitive steering. As it is an electronic system, it also allows for assistance features such as active lane assist and park assist.

Drive in the 2016 TT goes to the front wheels as standard, but quattro all-wheel drive is available and standard on the TTS model. In the U.S., a 2.0-liter TFSI engine will be common to both the TT and TTS. In the TT, the turbocharged and directed four-cylinder will pump out approximately 230 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque, while in the TTS it will be good for approximately 310 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.

A manual is standard but a six-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox is available and comes with a launch control feature. Equipped with the latter, the TT will sprint from 0-62 mph in 6.0 seconds and reach a governed top speed of 155 mph. The TTS, meanwhile, needs just 5.3 seconds to reach 62 mph when equipped with the S tronic ‘box and also has a top speed governed to 155 mph.

The 2016 Audi TT makes its debut today at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. For more from the show, head to our dedicated hub.

Default 2015 Audi TT Priced From $41,245

Audi’s third-generation TT sports car will arrive for the 2015 modle year with a starting price of $41,245 including delivery.

Like Volkswagnen Group’s other new compacts, the TT is based on VW’s MQB platform. The base car is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 230 hp, or a 19 pony inrease over the outgoing model. For $49,595, customers can pick up the most potent TT-S, which offers 310 hp and 273 lb0-ft of torque to hit 60 mph in under six seconds.

Pricing for convertible models is also available with the TT Roadser coming in at $44,425 while the TTS Roadster will cost $52,595, or roughly $3,000 more than their coupe siblings.

Revised styling for the new generation follows closely with the previous cars but carries sharper angles. The biggest stylistic changes take place inside the car, where Audi did away with the traditional center console in favor of a 12.3-inch digital display in the gauge cluster.

A U.S. arrival date hasn’t been announced yet, but dealers are expected to start recieving the cars sometime next year.

Audi's designs have consistently been evolutions of the same design language for the last decade. Why were any of you expecting something different?

I think it looks quite fine. It brings a modern look back to the car, as sharp angular lines are now "in", and soft curvy lines are being left behind in the 2000s. The Mustang and Corvette have gone in this direction as well.

It's a pretty small car, and there's only so much you can do with the limited space after you fit on the corporate grille, headlights, and taillights. The grille and headlights are the core of the Audi brand... pretty much Audi's identity.

The interior, however, is greatly changed, updated, and looks quite fresh. I like the minimalist design, and I'm betting there's a smorgasbord of information available in the dash.

Also, those wheels on the TTS are pretty sweet. Hope they are on the production version! I haven't seen a mesh wheels on a German car that is not a BMW or Porsche in a while.

Expanded Audi TT range to spawn new family car
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/ne...new-family-car
Larger TT line-up planned to combat falling coupé sales and diminished demand for compact niche models

Audi's new TT line-up could be expanded to include the launch of a 'family car'.

According to Audi technical chief Ulrich Hackenberg, the company is “working on future derivatives of the TT” in addition to the established coupé and roadster versions. “We are looking to see if there is more we can do,” Hackenberg said. “Could the TT be extended as a family car?”

The biggest question for the Audi board is whether a compact TT saloon would work based on the new A3 saloon’s MQB platform, rather than on a stretched version of the coupé’s expensive steel and aluminium hybrid architecture. The former platform would be essential if Audi wants to build a direct CLA rival.

It's too soon for April Fools.

They may as well! Swoopy 4-door coupes are all the rage. Just look at the.... ummm... heck, look at Audi's own A7. It and the CLS started it all. With the new CLA and BMW GT's, Audi should not wait and be late to the game.

They would sell much more if it was not so overpriced. Starting at 41K for a small car on a VW Golf platform, no thanks, I test drove a few, cool little car but never felt the were worth anywhere near what they were priced at, there was really nothing very special about the handling or drive. The original TT though was a major influence on the styling on many cars afters its debut and was one of the first cars offered with a DSG.

A 4 door version sounds interesting but the buzz from the original design is just not there.

Very conservative exterior. A lot of 1G elements now added.

Default New Audi TT-RS Imagined and Digitally Created

It doesn't take advanced knowledge of the scene in order to imagine and accurately depict what Audi’s upcoming TT-RS model will be like, if you know the regular TT and TT-S, as well as the usual transition Audi’s regular models undergo in their transformation into RS models.

That’s why this digital rendering by X-Tomi is actually more of a preview, and it looks spot on.

It features a new front bumper with a different grille, the typical RS badging and unique wheels; this last area is the only one where Audi might turn out something different.

Power for the next RS might come from a different source than the evocative-sounding 2.5-liter five-cylinder; if the Le Mans Coupe Concept is anything to go by, then the production model could feature the same 2.0-liter four-pot with up to or over 400 hp.
