Angry 2010 A5 with 20K miles crashed....totaled or not?

some azzhole ran a redlight and hit my wife in her A5....my wife is gfine thank goodness but ......thoughts on whether it will be totaled or not?

Car was mint condition, not a scratch on it.

I'd like to hear from some people with a little experience - not necessarily a pro but....

thanks for your opinions.

If repairs are cheaper than approx 80% the value of the car, then yes, it's repairable.

I think the magic number is 80% for cars...

Hmm well it doesn' look totaled, but I'd still be weary of frame damage. I personally would be wanting a replacement but that's just me. Glad your wife ok. Hope this gets resolved in a timely manner

yep, I was thinking they will never get this thing perfect (as new)....

I'm demanding only NEW OEM parts, no reconditioned; and will be asking for diminished value -- any idea how much to ask for?

thanks again

Glad to hear your wife is ok.

I echo what Phil and Hoovey said.

Are the front wheels turned to the right or just that front right wheel is BENT to the right?

If it's totalled, a new C7 is on order right???

This is going to be way more than $11k to repair somewhat properly, I would get rid of this car right after the repair, it will never drive right.

Adjusters always under claim, especially if you take it to a good reputable, up scale body shop which you have the right to.

totally blows. personally, i've been involved in over 15 accidents in my 23 yrs of driving, ONE being my fault. so, i know the woes/hassle this brings. like someone else said, your car probably won't drive "right" after repairs. i'd make sure your wife get's looked at by a doctor as well. she'll probably be sore in the next couple of days. hire an attorney, too. good luck.

Is this just the walk-around-with-a-clip-board and see what's damage by eyeballing it?

this might just the preliminary estimate since the body shop haven't even taken anything off to see other internal damages.

Ah, someone who has been through it many times
Yep, a car can be repaired easily. Make sure she doesn't overlook any "aches" and "soreness".

yep, esp. if it's a shop that they recommend.

My broken passenger side window cost about $3000 to repair. That's not $11000, but they always undershoot so it doesn't really matter. The body shop will give them a real bill (probably $15K+) and they will pay it. I wouldn't worry about it.

if they total it, what are you going to do when they give you half the money you paid for it?

Don't audi's lose half their value in 3 years?

very sorry to hear but glad your wife's fine.

did the other driver get charged with reckless driving or anything?

sadly, the car will never be the same. get it repaired, get the diminished value money and the trade-in, and get something else. it's rough because no matter what, we almost always lose with a car crash that wasn't our fault. the inconvenience alone is huge and such a time waster.

best of luck to you.
