That isn't due yet and just finished the design process a little while ago. No prototypes until even next year.

This is also part of MB's plan to take the C-class a bit upmarket.
Yes, this is actually the C213 coupe due in 2016. No one realizes that the only model that would possess a recent made clay model is the next E-Class range, as the design of C205 cabrio above was frozen in 2011 and BB DE 411 license plate is only applied to final design clay models.

Good move to make a C-Class convertible. May not be the prettiest, but it's pretty important to play against the competition

Default 2015 Mercedes-Benz W205 C-Class Exposed

Despite not being scheduled for press release until December, photographers caught an undisguised W205 C-Class sedan prototype doing winter testing. The 2015 C-Class is scheduled to debut in January 2014 at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit and go on sale in August 2014. Direct competitors will be the all-new 2014 Lexus IS and 2014 Infiniti Q50 due in June 2013, BMW 3-Series, the upcoming Jaguar XS scheduled for 2015, and the next generation Audi A4 due in 2014. As seen on other prototypes, exterior design seems to mimic the flagship W222 S-Class(also recently caught "undisguised") and will follow the theme of being a "mini-S-Class" like predecessors such as the 190e(1983-1993), W202(1993-2000), and W203(2000-2007).

Development of the W205 began in 2008, with design work being finished in late 2010 and frozen by March 2011. Prototypes have been testing since December 2011 and were first seen in January 2012. The prototype below uses halogen headlights, which differs from the boomerang-shaped LEDs on likely high-spec models. Read more information from the source of these photos:

BREAKING: 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class spied without camouflage

Our spies snapped a few photos with an undisguised 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class testing in Northern Scandinavia, ahead of the car's public debut scheduled for January 2014 at Detroit Auto Show.
Although it will be radically different than current model, the new C-Class is not what we consider a surprise after seeing the A-Class, CLA and the more recent S-Class. Mercedes-Benz has taken styling cues from these three cars, along with the headlights of the facelifted E-Class. The exhaust setup mimics the one seen on the upcoming S-Class.
The next-gen Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan has been confirmed to go on sale in August 2014 and will be followed in 2015 by the coupe and convertible. Shortly after these two a plug-in hybrid variant will be launched.
In an interview given to Automotive News, Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Steve Cannon said the wagon won't be sold in U.S. due to weak demand. He also mentioned there are no plans for a crossover variant and he described the BMW 3-Series GT as "an answer to production question that no one is asking for."
The automaker will upgrade its Tuscaloosa, Alabama factory to make it ready for the new C-Class production. At this facility Mercedes-Benz will produce at least 100,000 units per year. This will be the first C-Class ever to feature a U.S.-built engine as Daimler and Nissan have teamed up to produce four-cylinder M-B engines at Nissan's factory in Decherd, Tennessee starting next year.

An idea of the interior below:

I actually think it looks more like the S-Class, but it's also very similar to the new E-Class update. Ironically the E-Class facelift was designed in 2011, after the new C-Class by 6 months. I think that's because the E-Class MMC redesign was so intense to it fit in with MB's new lineup.

The original 2010 W212 E-Class was designed back in 2006 when current MB design chief Gorden Wagener wasn't in charge and he reportedly hated many models Mercedes-Benz designed under Peter Pfeiffer(ex-design chief) up to 2008.

I guess I was looking more at the headlights and the front lower airdams.

Interestingly, the non-AMG Sport S-Class has on a similar theme with the lower airdams.

AMG-Sport

A lot of upcoming MB designs this year are derived from the new S-Class (W222), as that was delayed a year and behind schedule like the next LS.

Sorry about, I see you meant this photo in regards to E-Class similarities. I've just been used to emphasizing that the 2014 E-Class did not inspire the 2014 S-Class, but the reverse.

No. The joke is what they'll charge you for real leather.

looks pretty good. I hope they can make the interior a bit more appealing than the current gen. I hope they dont borrow too much from the new CLA. They probably will to keep cost in check. We will see but Benz doesnt do very nice interiors on its lower end offerings.
