Default More Details on Toyota, BMW Joint Sports Car Come to Light

A source familiar with the product plans of Toyota and Lexus confirmed to Motor Trend that the Toyota FT-1 concept essentially previews the next-gen BMW Z4 and an as yet unnamed Toyota coupe, possibly the next Supra. The two cars will share a platform, but will be styled very differently.

As we previously reported, Toyota's technical partnership with BMW will yield one sports car for each automaker, similar to the tie-up with Subaru that produced the FR-S and BRZ. BMW will lead manufacturing, as it has a steady supply of carbon fiber from its Moses Lake, Wash.-based SGL plant. The BMW Z4 will use a carbon fiber tub similar to that of the i3 and i8. Our source tells us a two-seat roadster will be first, possibly with a power retractable hardtop, with an M version to follow.

As we've heard before, the Toyota version will be far less exotic compared to the FT-1, and perhaps even less stylized than the Z4 to differentiate the two. Powertrains are still unknown, but with BMW handling the carbon fiber bodies, engine development could fall on Toyota if engines are shared at all.

Default Toyota, BMW developed with the new Supra

This link/article was posted by Toyota Korea on Facebook. Note, it was also translated by Google.

This car was unveiled earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show Toyota FT-1 is. According to Toyota Motor said mass production and concept car was far from simple. Gran Turismo 6 in the first place, for export purpose of the game is designed for one thing and cooperative.

But he who believes that by the end of gotdaero not take my wings. All of the next generation of this car had been recognized as a preview of the Supra. Toyota also did not deny this opinion vigorously. Not a particularly positive but also jiyo.

Then recently, Toyota, the car unveiled on specific intent. All told, the expected conclusion from this landscape. Today, in fact this project you'll learn a little bit more. First, FT-1, no need to know the root of Supra project, the company may need to know about the head.

Toyota President Akio Toyoda now led by the founder of the Toyota Motor Corporation is the grandson of Toyota kiyichi. Managers are not brought out, making the company a member of the family's rise. Been led. However, unlike the usual royal family, he has nothing to do with Toyota's investment bank in the United States started a social life. Because the father was strict. So, incognito, rather than parachute submit a formal resume in 1984, I did the incident pyeongsawon Toyota cars. Even after promotion to Director, insagogwa pyeongsawon again relegated from the humiliation it suffered too. (Precipitated relegated him to shed staff in a cold sweat at a later time, right?)

Akio so his family can surf for the company was with her from the ground, where the Toyota looked at the one thing he felt strongly. The company is the product side of the car too but the fact that it was covered. In particular, the tendency is stronger in professional managers At a time was operated by the company.

In fact, he was inaugurated as president in 2009 (25 years after the incident), Toyota's lineup was no fun not mate. Money is not the car, especially the sports car model line-up is still not a single worst was happening. Celica Supra with a full-time CEOs, MR series and everything you just discontinued the business in terms of biological hs. The cars with historical and spiritual value s behavior is not considered at all was happening. Domestic car companies like Toyota a huge one if you do not have a sports car lineup will also uncommon. Chaman mandeundago money do you swear by eating even Hyundai Tiburon - Tuscany - Genesee process leading sports coupe coupe maintaining panguk on one strand of the mean.

Akio Toyoda professional executive who is different. Background from an early age, probably because he grew up in a house car and goods vehicle who is not looking at was a man of passion. Gamyeonseo stage name to write the driver for the Toyota Racing team is very unique in fact played one of his career.

Since 2009 he is the president, I'm at the Motor Show in a few hear his presentation was with her directly, remember all the details, but one thing is for sure rises. He wrote all the words presented necessarily had this site. Immediately

"The Dream"

It is. I remember standing in front of the people which he announced that every time you have used the word must. "Seems like the dream is true, the word" about the idea that was. Product is not much of dream cars Seeing who could read his will.

However, with the intention of President Akio still temperature difference between the actual line-up. 86 except for a difference between the precious still interesting lineup of Toyota vehicles only logical to full Cong. (Based in Japan) and no convertible, GT Cana, mid-, lightweight roadster is not. 86 one has a dream to become the talk of the lineup with a sense of lack of it true. Fun or feel at all, or a situation arises the need for a high performance sports car. The Supra is introduced. 86 was also the chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada latest Supra project development engineers have also committed some important clues to some of the media said.

First. Since taking office, President Akio Toyota lineup, the resurrection of the former planning to sports.

Second. 86 is that in the middle of their lineup, and down to at least one of 86 sports are more authentic out.

Third. 86 top model Supra is right. And last Motor Show concept model unveiled at the FT-1 will be the base model of this Supra. (The game is designed for working mock-up of the car considering that this was quite seem to detail the reasons.)

Fourth. Supra chassis of the new BMW and the co-development. Supra, BMW, Toyota committed to a variety of technologies will be completed, as is the taste. This car is the pinnacle of sports car joint venture the two companies. Be informed as to whether or not the hybrid.

Fifth. Copen would make a version of the Toyota. However, the difference between the above-mentioned models under 86 can not tell you for what.

Toyota Supra sports car line-up with so far is known about that is here. Anyway, the new Supra FT-1, resembling the appearance of BMW's technology means that you have in mind for a few years appears to be a fait accompli.

In 2011, Toyota and BMW for the diesel engine and hybrid unit in the respective bars. Cooperation. Ever since the two companies' joint area is widened in the past year, the Toyota bell cow, I was raising a BMW diesel engine, Toyota is involved in the development of the new Z4/Z5 is the news that're deulryeoohgo. Besides, the rumor among the companies on the lush, Supra and BMW confirmed it true that with the development of the count. Reduce development costs is greater reason, of course, but while Toyota, BMW to reach out to the car you want to create a more interesting.

President Akio story has always been taught 'dream' car I can tell. Both the Toyota lineup, one that seems to grow. How Toyota is a colorless, odorless byeonhalji akin to watching the fun seems to be ssolssol. Today article is here. Have a nice day!

Toyota | FT-1 Concept will make Monterey Debut at Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival Event in August 2014...!

The Toyota FT-1 concept is a pure performance, track-focused sports car model created by CALTY Design Research, Toyota's North American Design branch. FT-1 stands for "Future Toyota," and the number "1" represents the ultimate. Its design is heavily influenced by Toyota's long sports car tradition that includes vehicles such as 2000GT, MR2, Supra and most recently, 86 (Scion FR-S).

The front engine rear-wheel drive configuration locates the cockpit far rearward within the wheelbase to improve weight distribution. This design element also helps create the classic sportscar proportions one would expect from a vehicle poised to dominate even the most challenging road course. The cockpit's wraparound windshield and side glass openings are a distinct nod to the design of the legendary Toyota 2000GT.

The interior is a focused, highly functional "place of business" that locates the driver at the controls behind an F1 inspired steering-wheel. A color heads-up display keeps the driver's attention on the road ahead, with vital information projected just above the steering wheel within the driver's line of sight.

This provocative concept truly captures the passion, excitement, and energy of the Toyota we are evolving into and embodies elements of the emotion and performance that Toyota will imprint upon future production designs.

My story / photo made it onto worldcarfans, GTspirit, and TopSpeed.

High-performance Toyota FT-1 concept revealed?

Several months ago, Motor Trend interviewed a handful of designers about the Toyota FT-1 concept. The video was a hit but the FT1 Club has just noticed something unusual about it - a mysterious rendering of a high-performance variant.
While the details are hard to make out, the rendering shows an aggressive FT-1 which has a two-tone exterior and what appears to be a fixed rear wing. The top left corner of the image also appears to show the outline of the Nürburgring which backs up the belief that is a sporting variant.
Of course this isn't the first time we've heard about a high-performance FT-1 as previous reports have suggested the company is working on a wide-body racing variant that could be part of a tie-in with Gran Turismo 6 and / or the Super GT series.

Possible Toyota FT-1 Racing Car Leaked

Not too long ago, it emerged that Toyota was preparing to create another example of its outlandish FT-1 Concept which originally debuted at the Detroit Motor Show in January. It is believed that the second concept won’t be bright red like the other and will be helped to further gauge customer interest in such a model. Now the first image of this potential second concept has been leaked online.

The following blurry image first appeared in a video Motor Trend recently made interviewing the designers behind the Toyota FT-1 Concept. It was featured on a wall full of FT-1 renderings and official images and features a host of new additions indicating that it could be the next concept.

For starters, it is finished in white with a host of red accents including a prominent front splitter much larger than the current concept’s. It also features a large fixed rear wing with bright red endplates. Finally, red can be seen on the side skirts as well as the wing mirrors.

At the time reports emerged that a second concept was being created, there were also whispers that a Toyota FT-1 based racing car could be created to compete in Japan’s Super GT Series and this could very well be it!

Is This The Racing Version Of The Toyota FT-1 Concept?

The Toyota FT-1 Concept was unveiled last January amidst a chorus of adulation coming from all corners of the auto industry. In a lot of ways, the FT-1 was more than just a concept. It was the reinvigoration of hope that the successor to the Toyota Supra was just around the corner. But what we didn’t know then was that Toyota may have bigger plans for the FT-1 Concept other than its intended showpiece purpose.

FT1Club moderator VH_Supra26 noticed something peculiar in an episode of Motor Trend’s Downshift series featuring the FT-1 Concept. In that episode, the concept’s designers talked shop about the concept, describing what it represented in the company’s future sports car plans.

But in one of the scenes during the episode, sketch boads in the background revealed a particular sketch of a heavily modified FT-1 Concept. At the very least, it looked a lot more aggressive than the "standard" concept version, leading many to speculate that the Japanese automaker is seriously thinking about introducing a concept racing version of the FT-1.

Toyota ] has given no indication on its end that such a car exists or that it has plans to build one in the future. But seeing the sketch of the concept, complete with the same color scheme of the G Sports Concept, makes us think that there will come a time in the not-so-distant future where Toyota will reveal the FT-1 Racing Concept.

Why It Matters

The implications of an FT-1 Racing Concept are huge if Toyota does decide to go that route. It could be used as platform for a bigger and more powerful sports car. Maybe even a supercar.

But the more plausible scenario would be for Toyota to use the FT-1 Racing Concept as a precursor for a future race that can be used in a number of racing series all over the world.

At this point, all of this is just speculation on our end. But should the day come when Toyota debuts a race car version of the FT-1, then we’ll have a better idea on what the company has in store for it.

And two foreign sites as well.

Default Could this be a very early test mule for the FT-1?

The new NSX was just spied testing on the Ring yesterday. In front of it is what appears to just be a normal stock MKIV Supra, or is there more than meets the eye? Some are wondering why does Toyota keep running such an old model on Nurburgring? It appears the same Supra was also spotted running on the ring with a prototype Toyota 86 about two years ago. The plates are in fact Toyota's. So it seems it is a Toyota test car of some sort. It is a common practice in the auto industry to test a new drivetrain or platform and disguise it over an existing body. Could it be in fact Toyota is testing a new drivetrain for a production FT-1? Or are we making to much of a fuss over nothing? Please share your comments and thoughts below.

Yeah, I found it weird that there was a Supra running with the NSX. I think they are testing out the drive train before putting it on a new chasis
