Toyota Outlines New Gran Turismo 6 Vision Concept, Sparks Comments About Supra

Quote:

It's only to be expected that, whenever Toyota talks about a coupe model these days, everyone's mind automatically goes to a replacement for the Supra, the brand's last (true) high performance sports car, regardless if it's true.

The same is taking place with this new teaser sketch showing the silhouette of Toyota's racing concept for the Gran Turismo 6 Vision series, even though we only get this photo and nothing else from the Japanese carmaker and the creators of the racing game.

Still, who can blame us for wishful thinking…

The Gran Turismo Vision project, which includes concept cars made from automakers, design houses and other unrelated brands like Nike, will be available as special downloadable content (DLC) for players of the game in early 2014.

I'm pretty sure Tada-San has said it would be faster than that.

Yeah, it is all a Concept. It took the 86 ....7 years or so until Production......the Supra ? Probably another 5 years until production.

Heck, I am sure I won't be able to afford it, if it is the Price range of Corvette or Worse...the GT-R. By the pricing Trance of Toyota Premium Sport cars IS-F, LF-A...... I say, I would realistically expect the new Supra to be 80k+

Oh and it only took them like 2 years (not 7) to go from concept to production with the 2009 FT-86 concept. Two years later the production Toyota 86 debuted at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show.

Yeah but it was released in 2013. That is at the least 4 years if you want to take it that way. The first 86 concept was back in 2006 or so

Um sales began in early 2012...

Are you talking about the FT-HS? That is a totally different concept. It was a lot larger and powered by the GS' hybrid drivetrain. Some styling clues may have been recycled on the FT-86 concept but other than that the two are not related at all.

Vision Gran Turismo: Toyota crunches concept

Quote:

Over 1000 cars available in GT6 whose unique creations to the credit of different manufacturers who responded to the call of Polyphony Digital as Mercedes / AMG ( remember ), Ford, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Subaru, Peugeot, Tesla, etc., etc. ... And Toyota that delivers an image.

The Japanese automaker did not reveal a lot, next to nothing, but at least shows an illustration of the concept Vision Gran Turismo, one of the virtual concept cars that players can incorporate into their GT6 console.

We will not know more for now except to read the silhouette below. Toyota memo written by a new page in its discussions with Gran Turismo links. We remember well that during the release of GT5 manufacturer had revealed the coupe FT-86 Concept which we now know it prefigured. As for this new concept Vision Gran Turismo Toyota signed, review and clear details soon.

New Toyota Supra Teased For Gran Turismo Vision Debut?

Quote:

Toyota has sparked yet more Supra speculation this week, releasing a shadowy teaser of a new coupe concept it has designed for Sony Entertainment's popular Gran Turismo 6.

The concept will join Mercedes AMG's retro-futuristic concept as part of the Gran Turismo Vision project, which sees carmakers collaborating with Polyphony Digital on special models for the new game.

Details for Toyota's new computerised coupe are thin on the ground, but one thing is certain: if Toyota is planning a successor to the Supra, this concept has the right proportions.

If nothing else, it is known that Toyota is working with BMW on a new sports car platform, and high-ranked executives with the Japanese carmaker have spoken openly of hopes for a new Supra.

Reports in recent weeks suggest we could see just such a concept debut at next month's Detroit Auto Show, so we may not have long to wait.

That profile looks nice and aggressive, much better then that FT-HS concept.
