im hoping for at least 450hp. but i think once we found out more about the new ISF (V6 TT rumored) than we will have a better idea for FT1.

Wow Gym, that was actually quite a depressing chronological snapshot of the FT-86.

So sad....

Tada-san said it will take 5 years to develop the new sports car. I wonder if he meant 5 years from when work first started (2012) or 5 years from when the concept debut (2014)?

Normally, it would take about 3-4 years from concept to production. Before crafting a concept, engineering would start a few years ahead already. I think the car would be revealed in its production form at least about 3 years from now.

FT-86 was closer to two years. But yes, 3 years from now seem reasonable. That would be around 2017.

FT-86 debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor in October of 2009. The first production debuted at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show in November.

LF-LC is supposed to be a cheaper version of the LF-A, but still gonna sit on top of the Lexus Productions line. I expect it to be a reasonable priced Japanese Super Car. Maybe 170+

LF-CC = RC
LF-LC = LC/SC/?C

LF-LC is Lexus's ultimate GT coupe so it's not just a cheaper version of the LFA. Think of it as a competitor to the latest S-Class Coupe and defunct CL-Class. The LF-LC will be big, powerful, refined and suave. It won't be hardnosed and raw like the LFA

I think WorldCarFan words it a bit better.

Toyota working on another FT-1 concept - report

Company could be considering a production variant

According to Motor Trend's July issue, Toyota has decided to create another full-scale model of the FT-1 concept albeit in a different color.

The car is reportedly being constructed to gauge consumer interest and this implies Toyota is seriously considering a production variant. The magazine goes on to point out that the company rarely builds two concepts and the last time they did was with the Lexus LF-LC concept which previewed the brand's future styling direction.

If that's not exciting enough, there's also word that the company could be working a "hotter" wide-body racing variant. Little is known about it but the magazine believes it could be part of a tie-in with Gran Turismo 6 and / or the Super GT series.

If the car is green-lighted, it could produce 485 bhp (361 kW) and weigh roughly 2900 lbs (1315 kg).

So similar to Lexus introducing the Blue Opal LF-LC at Melbourne after the Red LF-LC debuted in Detroit. Should we expect a blue FT-1 at the next big autoshow?

I always thought the FRS should have been a Toyota.

This is off topic but do you guys know if the 2GR-FSE fits in the FRS?

A new take on FT-1?

It is reported that BMW and Toyota are working on a new "flexible platform that can underpin everything from a small two-seat roadster to a larger sports car." If the report is true; whether or not FT-1 is the BMW/Toyota car, this lends me to believe all future Toyota/Lexus and BMW sports cars will underpin this new co-developed platform. Z4, Z5, Z7 and ect for BMW. Second gen 86, FT-1, new SC/ZC and ect for Toyota/Lexus.

Everyone is working on a modular platform. Subaru already announced a modular platform that will launch in 2016. First one to get it is Impreza.
