86: (101.2 in) wheelbase & (166.9 in) length
Supra: (100.4 in) wheelbase & (177.8 in) length

correct the overall length is 10.9 longer, but the wheel base differences between the MKIV and 86 is only .8 inches. the 86 actually has the longer wheelbase.

sorry for earlier crappy comparison photo. this one seems to be more on point.

I hope it turns out great but I still think the previous Supra looked better.

If they brought out the MKIV Supra with an updated interior and electronics I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I doubt it's going to be that plain. The car will look too much like the GT86. Toyota need something to stand out, not a more powerful BRZ.

i actually like it. very clean and simple like the last Supra. IMO, it will age well if it looks like the rendering.

I like #3 the best, roof-line could be a little smoother but it is a handsome car, not sexy, but handsome. And remember the aftermarket will certainly support revised more aggressive bumpers, front lips, side skits, widebody kits etc.

it seems that most people like the thin nose the best. the guy that did the rendering said he got the idea from the NS4 concept.

Default New Toyota Supra Looking Very Likely To Adopt Hybrid Powertrain

The next-generation Toyota Supra is looking increasingly likely to adopt a hybrid powertrain co-developed with BMW.

Even before the first spy shots of the model appeared online, rumors were rife about what engine would be used by Toyota to resurrect the famous model. Now, Auto Express suggests that hybrid power has been selected.

After asking Toyota's European president and chief executive Johan van Zyl if the brand's hybrid technologies would extend to sports cars, van Zyl said that it will.

“I would imagine that in the future that will definitely happen. We already have some sporting models with hybrid powertrains on the Lexus side. But on the Toyota side, I think we will find that if we can have a World Endurance Championship racing car with hybrid technology, it can happen on a road car.

“I do not have any doubt whatsoever that in the longer-term future there will be a real Toyota sports model using electrification.”

If the new Toyota Supra turns out to be that model, it's hybrid technology is expected to be inspire by Toyota's successful Le Mans prototype. As such, the model may use electric motors on both the front and rear axles and then draw on additional power from a petrol engine powering the rear wheels. Regen

Honestly, I see the lovechild of BMW/Toyota as a GT86 successor. The Supra was more of a GT car which is closer to the LC500. I think they'll brand the car pictured above as the next generation GT86 while the 100% in house Toyota version of the LC500 will be the next generation Supra since that car was developed 100% in house. The supra should also be slightly larger than the GT86.

The FT-1 shares a lot more body lines with the LC500, especially with that rear intake around the rear wheels. The old supra had it, LC500 has it, and so does FT-1.I can totally see them making a FT-1 production car based on the LC500 body and frame. Toyota/Lexus wouldn't have go off and made the LF-LC as just a one off halo car. It makes so much sense for the to reuse the frame and components in a new Supra.

Just my two cents.

Again, the LC500 just screams "Supra" even inside the car.
