If they can offered around 250hp+ and keep the pricing the same that would be great.

Default Nissan IDx to lose the retro styling cues - report

Could use a 2.0-liter engine

According to a recent report, the production version of the Nissan IDx concept will lose its retro styling cues.

Citing company insiders, Motoring is reporting the model will feature modern and muscular styling which draws inspiration from the Sports Sedan concept.

While the IDx Freeflow concept was originally envisioned to use a petrol engine that displaced between 1.2- and 1.5-liters, the production model is rumored to adopt a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter unit that produces at least 181 bhp (135 kW). This would bring the model closer to its chief rival, the Toyota GT 86.

Little else is known about the car but it is expected to be launched in 2017 and ride on the same platform that underpins the next-generation Z sports car.

I feel like if it loses the retro touch.....then it's not really even the same idea.

I mean it's got 4 wheels and everything, but besides that.

Maybe they will just slap on the Nissan boomerang headlights and call it a day?

They probably re-evaluated the FRS/BRZ and the Miata and thought we need to make it more edgy. Personally I disagree but whatever. Bring us a small sports car Nissan

Default Nissan IDx concept could spawn Silvia successor

To have a rear-wheel drive layout

A new report indicates the Nissan IDx concept will eventually evolve into a spiritual successor of the 200SX (Silvia).

The model will allegedly be styled with influences from the Sports Sedan concept and will ride on a rear-wheel drive platform. Power is expected to come from a supercharged 1.2-liter and a turbocharged 1.6-liter sending power to the rear axle which would make the Silvia revival a worthy adversary for the Toyota GT 86 / Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S trio.

It would act as a smaller next-gen Z model and should get a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed close-ratio automatic gearbox. The outputs of the engines are not known at this moment but the report says the larger unit will generate close to the GT 86's 200 HP (147 kW).

It is believed a revised IDx concept will debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show set begin on October 29. The modern Silvia is expected to go on sale towards the end of 2017 and will be followed in roughly six months by a Nismo variant.

Im so happy Toyota it making relatively inexpensive, RWD cars that force other companys to follow suit.

Default 2017 Nissan Silvia Based On IDx Rumored To Rival Scion FR-S

Nissan is allegedly reintroducing the iconic Silvia sports car to rival the Toyota GT86, Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ triplets, says an unofficial source (read: unreliable source). According to Motoring.com, the new Nissan Silvia will be based on the Nissan IDx concept and is slated for a late 2017 release.

Rumors of an all-new Nissan Silvia go as far back as Japanese car magazine renderings back in 2008. The latest report claims a new Nissan FR coupe that will ride on the Nissan IDx concept’s RWD platform and will feature styling similar to the Nissan Sports Sedan Concept. The new Silvia is said feature engine options including a supercharged 1.2 liter and a turbocharged 1.6 liter power unit.

The 2017 Nissan Silvia is expected to be smaller than the next-generation Z and will place emphasis on driving pleasure and light weight over outright power. Speculators claim the power output of the turbocharged 1.6 liter engine should closely match the 200hp Toyota GT86.

Finally, World Car Fans suggested that new information regarding the next-generation Nissan Silvia is expected following the debut of a revised Nissan IDx concept at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show in Oct. 29. We definitely wouldn’t hold our breath.

It’s not that we don’t want to believe in an all-new Nissan Silvia, but a little digging revealed that the source of the 2017 Nissan Silvia report was from an article written by Peter Lyons, the same man responsible for starting the outrageous turbocharged Scion FR-S 4-door sedan rumors back in 2010.

In the meantime, stay tuned as we learn more about the Nissan IDx concept in the months ahead.

Default Production Nissan IDx concept put on the back put on the back burner

Will focus on volume products

Today we bring bad news from Nissan as the company has apparently decided to postpone indefinitely the launch of exciting niche models previewed by concepts.

According to Automotive News Europe, sources within Nissan have announced plans to focus on volume products to boost market share of both Nissan and its premium marque Infiniti. As a consequence, interesting concepts such as the IDx and BladeGlider along with Infiniti's Q50 Eau Rouge are unlikely to see the light of production day in the near future.

The Nissan IDx concept was supposed to preview a modern Silvia successor positioned as an entry-level Z sports car with supercharged 1.2-liter and turbocharged 1.6-liter engines. The car was believed to come out late 2017 and followed six months later by a Nismo variant.

That sucks! I was really looking forward in seeing what Nissan was going to make out of this car. If it's because of costs, team up with Kia and build a chassis for it together (other companies are doing this). Kia had a GT4 Stinger concept at Detroit last year which was supposed to be similar, a RWD sports coupe. Haven't heard anything on that car either.

No IDx, no Eau rouge (so much hype), and no bladeglider (that was too radical).
I don't see anything else left from nissan then for upcoming new products.
Are they working on a new morono convertible???

I guess we'll have to wait for the new maxima (and GT-R). No words the new Z?

Man, nissan is pretty stale.
