Yes all valid points. Pricing for sure will be a huge point, and yes the domestic loyalty is a huge obstacle that automatically puts Toyota at a big disadvantage.

Miles?................you mean light-years. I had such a low opinion of the old Colorado/Canyon and its Isuzu I-270/350 spinoff I didn't even bother to write it up.

I will say though if anyone can do it, it'll be Toyota. Very steep hill to climb. Curious to see what comes to fruition.

I personally think the older and defunct Ranger was superior

Yes, it (and its Mazda B-Series spinoff twins, before they were discontinued) were superior in some ways (though slightly smaller)....though the Colorado/Canyon/Isuzu triplets admittedly weren't much of a standard to judge them against. From what I could tell, what killed off the Ranger in the American market was the fact that just a little more money brought a substantially larger, harder-working, full-size truck...the F-150. Buyers, of course, took note.

there's that reason, and the one where the Ranger was simply neglected for so long. Marginal updates through the years no extensive remodels

Knockout styling on the GMC! Only beef is the overstyled fender flares. Kind of ruins an otherwise high-end, classy look. Also not a fan of these new GM side-step rear bumpers. They look like they've been side-swiped or a larger trim/filler piece has fallen off.

Why the hell does GM feel the need to STILL use that F-UGLY shifter? SERIOUSLY?
