Next-gen Mercedes-Benz GLK due September 2015
GLK Coupe planned
German media is reporting the next generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLK will be out next year and will be followed in 2016 by an all-new E-Class.
2015 is going to be a very busy year for Mercedes-Benz because that's when they plan to introduce a coupe version (C205) of the new C-Class as well as a first time ever convertible (A205). Around September we shall see the second generation of the GLK (X253) which will grow in size as a measure to distance itself from the GLA. Interestingly, the same report mentions there will be a GLK Coupe (C253) arriving several months after the regular model.

2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK Interior Spied
Mercedes upcoming second-generation compact crossover is still under heavy camouflage but spy photos of the cabin reveal several changes.
The pictures show that it will feature a new center console, center stack and air vents akin with other new products from the brand. The typical telephone number pad is gone and the cup holders are kept in a hide-away compartment. An infotainment screen similar to the new CLA sits on top of the dash rather than being built in and the user interface has been updated as well.
It also looks like Mercedes is choosing to keep its steering column mounted gear selector rather than moving that duty to gear in the lower middle part of the cabin.
There isn’t much to see on the outside, where the entire car – which is se to grow a little bit over the current vehicle – is entirely covered in camouflage wrapping.

Scoop Video: Mercedes-Benz Gives Next GLK a Modern Makeover
Mercedes-Benz might have had the right idea with the introduction of a smaller SUV than the ML-Class when it introduced the GLK back in 2008, but the execution lacked imagination.
It’s too square for its own good on the outside, and outdated on the inside, and the 2012 facelift, marketed as a 2013MY in North America, didn't really help to change that perception.
Mercedes hopes to fix these shortcomings with the presentation of the second-generation model that will shed its boxy exterior looks while also obtaining a far more modern, roomier and better quality interior borrowed directly from the next C-Class series (see it here in our scoop shots), with which it also shares its underpinnings and engine range.
In the following video, courtesy of Germany's Autobild magazine, you can catch a glimpse of the 2016 GLK in prototype form on the road.
