McLaren Automotive has only been in business for a few of years now, but already it has launched the 12C, the 12C Spider and the new P1. It's not about to stop there. Next up will be the long-rumored P13, a smaller, lighter sportscar aimed at the top end of the Porsche 911 range.

Now expected to arrive late next year, the P13 will borrow heavily from its existing stablemates. That means a lightweight carbon monocoque, a detuned version of Woking's 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and seven-speed Pre-Cog dual-clutch transmission and styling penned by Frank Stephenson and appearing closer to that of the P1 than the 12C.

The latest intel projects it'll churn out around 450 horsepower, which would make it significantly less powerful than the 911 Turbo it'll go up against. It also won't benefit from the Porsche's all-wheel traction, but its lighter projected curb weight ought to make it a close match in performance. UK pricing is tipped to come in around £120,000, which translates to about $190k or about $70k less than the 12C. That'd make it a touch more expensive than the top of the 911 and Audi R8 coupe ranges, but promises to deliver a higher degree of exclusivity, although US pricing could be adjusted accordingly.

Default McLaren's Sports Series Sounds Terrific In Latest Teaser, Confirmed for NY Auto Show

Unfortunately for all of us, we weren't treated to the Sports Series at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, so we'll just have to wait another month for its official debut in NY.

The Sports Series is yet another highly anticipated model that McLaren is planning to win us over with, only this time, we're talking about an entry-level, Porsche 911 Carrera rival. It will also take on the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GT and the Audi R8 in an attempt to give the 650S and the 675LT more breathing room in tackling more powerful supercars such as the Huracan, the 488 GTB and so on.

Even though the car stays in camouflage throughout the entire video, we already know that it'll look quite similar to other McLaren products, having some instantly recognizable features.

As for that mid-mounted V8 symphony we're hearing for the first time, it's a detuned version of the 650S's engine, possibly putting down around 500 HP - but we've yet to hear anything official about power and torque figures, let alone how fast it goes.

McLaren have also stated that this will be a better daily driver than the 650S, with a more roomier interior and more luggage space.

With this in mind, it's quite possible that a car such as this will become a best seller for McLaren, since not all people can afford to pay 650S and above prices.

The Sports Series is expected to go on sale in Q2 of 2015.

Default McLaren Sports Series to be called 570S

Will have 570 HP

A new report indicates the first model part of the McLaren Sports Series will be called "570S".

Scheduled to make its debut early next month at the New York Auto Show, McLaren's entry-level model will wear the 570S moniker which indicates the twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine has been detuned to deliver 570 HP (419 kW). We already know there's going to be a C version and chances are that will be the Club model set to be commercialized only in Asia with slightly less power, just like the 650S has 650 HP while the 625C is rated at 625 HP.

Following the coupe's introduction, McLaren will launch a Spider version and then a grand tourer derivative providing more trunk space. Later on during the car's lifespan, a more hardcore variant will join the range with more power and less weight, possibly the Long Tail version which has already been confirmed by McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt.

We already know the 570S will get a carbon fiber monocoque just like its more expensive siblings and will be equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In terms of performance, expect the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run to take less than four seconds before reaching a maximum speed of around 180 mph (290 km/h).

We will have all the details at the beginning of April when the McLaren 570S will premiere at the New York Auto Show. Pricing in United States is estimated to kick off at $180,000.

Default McLaren Sports Series Teased

More details and a teaser photo are out on the new entry-level McLaren.

Seen in the photo released by McLaren is what appears to be the driver-side door of the car, completely uncovered. It has also come to light that the first car in the Sports Series range will be called the 570S, suggesting that its twin-turbo V8 will crank out 570 ps (564 hp).

The new Sports Series will be the lowest car on the McLaren totem pole and will compete with the Porsche 911 Turbo. Initially, the car will debut at the New York Auto Show as a Coupe and a convertible model will follow. Eventually, there will also be GT version with more luggage space and a more comfortable interior.

The new car is expected to go on sale in the second half of this year, with McLaren pegging sales at between 2,000 and 5,000 units a year.

Default McLaren 570S speculatively rendered based on spy shots

Due early next month in New York

Independent artist Wild Speed has speculatively rendered the McLaren 570S based on the recent spy shots and teasers.

McLaren has been playing the teasing game for quite some time with their entry-level model called 570S part of the newly established Sports Series.

After checking out some official teasers and spy shots, Wild Speed decided to digitally imagine the baby Mac ahead of an early April reveal at the New York Auto Show. McLaren might decide to show the Spider version at the same event, but could wait until September for the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Borrowing the carbon fiber monocoque from its bigger and more powerful siblings, the 570S will use a detuned 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine pushing out 570 (419 kW). A slightly less powerful variant with the "C" suffix will probably be sold in Asia, in the same vein as the 625C.

Besides the usual coupe and spider body styles, the McLaren 570S could also spawn a more spacious grand tourer version while a Long Tail derivative has already been confirmed by the company's CEO.

That's a very tempting little render. Small mid engine exotic with small displacement V8 churning 570hp*. McLaren continues to irritate Ferrari and Porsche.

Default McLaren 570S Coupe teased yet again, debuts April 1

Will have 570 PS

McLaren has released an additional teaser image for their upcoming entry-level model called 570S Coupe.

Debuting a week from today, the first model part of the Sports Series will have 570 PS (419 kW) produced by the familiar twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine.

There's also going to be an Asia-only "C" version which will reportedly be called 540C so it will have 540 PS (397 kW) and should debut at next month's Shanghai Auto Show. Both the 540C and 570S will feature a carbon fiber monocoque sourced from the 650S and P1 while in terms of pricing will compete with the Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S, respectively.

The first to come out will be the coupe, but McLaren plans to extend the range with a Spider version as well as a more hardcore Long Tail derivative in the same vein as the 675LT. The coupe is being described as a "pure McLaren" set to offer "class-leading levels of performance, coupled with optimized handling characteristics and driving dynamics." A track-only GT3 version is apparently in the works as well, but nothing is official at this point.

The McLaren 570S will make its world debut on April 1 at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
