i think it's more likely the next rx will be a good bit more expensive. i also would NOT be surprised if the rx is 3 row seating since they'll have the nx in the line-up.

I can see where a nicely optioned AWD NX will be touching $50k. No thanks.
depends on what it offers, doesn't it?

Why not?

Look at the competition, the X3, GLK, the Q5. X3 starts at $40,725...X3's are over $50k all day long. Q5 starts at $37,300 and again, over $50k with options. GLK starts at $38,405...again with options easily over $50k.

Forgot to mention. NXh will not be a big seller because of the price tag. Dealers will stock a handful, minimum 1 initially when released. When asked whats the point, to add another hybrid to the line-up and tout the wide array of Lexus hybrids. Because of this limited volume of NXh's expect NX200t's to sell in droves

Ye but NX is based on RAV4, which can be had for much less $$$.

I wish NX was based on IS platform.

BASED ON the Rav 4, not a rebadged Rav 4. Thats never held Lexus back from offering a vehicle that competes on price before despite being a shared platform. The RX is a shared platform and it outsells them all.

Thats one of my issues with Lexus....they have a great chassis in the IS/GS- why not develop an SUV from that instead of using a cheap FWD platform???

This would also further separate Lexus and Toyota.

I don't disagree...even having it based on the RAV4 just gives Lexus' detractors fodder to work with.

There have been some rumors, including here on CL, of a (possible) upcoming CT sedan for the U.S. market, but, at the D.C. auto show, the Lexus reps could (or would) not confirm that. One of them freely admitted that they can't always give out company info in advance.

Agreed, much in the light as the RWD GLK is off the C-Class W204 platform.

Instead Lexus went the RWD GLA off the A/B-Class route

I've also never found reps at the DC show that really know anything. They're either models, salesmen or other dealer staff. I've never encountered any actual Lexus reps.

The DC show is really just a dealer association show.

I hope they do something with the CT. Its ugly as all hell and it doesnt look like a car coming from a Lexus dealership. This is not Europe. People dont want small expensive cars. They can buy small cheap cars instead . I know the CT is selling better than the HS but it cant be a huge volume model like the RX or ES
