I hope it's early into 2015 for the Nurburgring attempt =).

On paper, it is possible. The Agera R outguns the 918 by a comfortable margin thanks to the combination of a 1124-hp twin-turbocharged V-8 and a 3160-pound curb weight—that’s 237 horsepower more and 560 pounds less than the hybrid Porsche. And although Koenigsegg’s engineering resources look tiny next to Porsche’s, the company’s test driver—Robert Serwanski—told us that the Agera R was reaching a peak of 250 mph on the Nordschleife’s Döttinger Höhe straightaway during testing. “And remember,” he added, “the Agera is 100 kilograms [220 pounds] heavier than the One:1, has half the downforce, and less power.”
Color me excited for the attempt

Default Jay Leno drives the 1,341-hp Koenigsegg One:1

There are only seven Koenigsegg One:1s in the world, and just one of them resides in the U.S.—and Jay Leno has driven it.

This is one car Leno doesn’t actually own, although he's still thoroughly impressed by it, as evidenced by his reaction upon seeing it, featured in this recent episode of Jay Leno’s Garage.

The car was at a Michelin test track in Laurens, South Carolina, and on hand to explain all the details was Koenigsegg CEO and founder Christian von Koenigsegg. All One:1s have a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8, 7-speed dual-clutch transmissions, and almost full carbon fiber construction.

This particular car was first shown during the 2015 Monterey Car Week and is the last of the seven One:1s built. Its owner was gracious enough to allow Leno to drive the car, which we should remind you originally retailed for approximately $2 million. We've since seen examples retail for three times that figure.

If you’re not completely up to date on the One:1, the car draws its name from the fact that it delivers one horsepower, measured in metric hp, for every kilogram of weight including with the driver on board and the tank filled halfway. That’s 1,360 metric hp combined with 1,360 kg of weight. For American readers, that’s 1,341 hp and 2,998 lbs.

With such impressive numbers, it’s not surprising that the car has been smashing records since its launch at the 2014 Geneva auto show. The most recent was a new record of just 17.95 seconds for the 0-300-0 kmh (0-186-0 mph) acceleration and brake test. Koenigsegg in July attempted to beat the Porsche 918 Spyder’s 6:57 Nürburgring record using another customer’s One:1, though a crash put an end to the attempt. That car is being rebuilt and may be back at the ‘Ring one day.
