It tough breaking a window without the right tool.Especially for a 80 lb person like this girl.

I don't think you are aware how difficult it is to break a car window with bare hands, I believe many full size grown men can't do it, let alone a 80 lbs girl.

Who's asking her to break the window with her bare hands? Belt buckle, feet, keys, pen are all fair game. But let's say she panicked and never thought of using the metal belt buckle. I'll concede to that, as she's only 14. But why sit in a car with windows rolled up on a hot day?

keys, pen.........you serious?

Sitting in a car with windows rolled up is a mystery, I can't do that for more then 30 seconds.

Just an example bro. Her best bet would have been the belt buckle and a book. But again she's 14 and perhaps she panicked. I concede to that once again.

But sitting in the car with windows up on a jhot day still has me wondering.

I once saw a guy willingly sitting in a car on a hot day with the windows rolled up for like 20 minutes, it must be 140 degrees in there And no it was not a Pruis with the AC on, it was an old Prelude with the engine off.

Some people must have really high tolerance for heat!

Maybe she just fell asleep while waiting for her class to start.

If you're sitting in the car and the person you're riding with leaves you in it, takes the keys, and locks it with the fob from the outside, no you cannot open the car doors by pulling the handle, and as the locks are recessed you can't pull them up either. What you have to do is hit the central door lock/unlock button, which is right in the middle of the center console near the emergency flasher button. Once you open the door the alarm goes off, but whatever. At least on my E93, it's a small button, one that would unfortunately be easy to miss. There's definitely a proper way out of the car though, without doing anything elaborate.

Tragic either way.
This is an inexcusable design by BMW. I can't believe this could make it past safety standards. Anyone should be able to exit a locked car by either pulling the handle or the lock (except child safety lock situations).

Not sure if BMW's have these kind of headrests or not but this would be good for everyone to know just in case.

Guess he didn't realize that hotboxing is not a literal term.

Yes, I can attest to this. Witnessed a criminal act and tried to help stop the getaway vehicle... knucles vs window, the window won.

Looks like a possibilty since there have complaints about being locked in the trunk (if kidnapped, fell in...) so there should be an escape mechanism available.
