This car is pretty much DOA. BMW has been pretty disappointing lately.
Porsche Macan is miles better this. I just don't see the point of this car, and Porsche is bringing the diesel version next year.

Lead Lap
Why are you comparing this to the Macan like the X3 doesn't exist? The Macan will be priced higher with options than this anyways, guarantee it. And if you're wondering what the point of the X4 is, you're clearly not the target market. Someone who buys this has decided it looks cool and wants something different. The same as an X6 buyer but with less money.
The other 98% of just look like this:

The pursuit of F
I just would love to see the business case presented internally within BMW for the viability of this vehicle and all its "variations" (3 GT, 5 GT, X6). The team must have done one heck of a job convincing stakeholders this vehicle type is relevant to the consumer and profitable to BMW. Heck, look at the success of the 5 GT, ZDX, and Crosstour - the consumer definitely has embraced these vehicles.

Leaked 2015 BMW X4 Order Guide Gives Puts a Price on All Options
BMW didn’t hold back on U.S. pricing when it announced the new 2015 X4 sports crossover, revealing that the 240hp 2.0-liter turbo xDrive28i starts from $45,625 and the 300hp 3.0-liter turbo straight-six xDrive35 from $48,925, destination fees included, but it did keep the cost of options hidden.
We assume everything will be officially released during the X4's world premiere at the New York Auto Show later this month, but in the meantime, we can share with you the leaked order guide.
There are plenty of features and packages to add to the crossover, with some that caught our eye including the M Sport Line priced at $2,300 for the 2.0L model and $1,900 for the 3.0L, and the $2,150 navigation system.
The list also contains the standard specification for both X4 models.

How it's made: the all-new BMW X4 in South Carolina [video]
To be joined by X7 in 2017 or 2018

C&D Travels Into the Future, Thinks BMW X4 Made its Debut in Beijing and Prices were Leaked
http://www.carscoops.com/2014/04/c-t...ks-bmw-x4.html
You know it's a slow news day when we nitpick online magazines, but we couldn't resist poking some harmless fun at Car&Driver's piece titled "Ka-Ching! Ka-Ching! 2015 BMW X4 Pricing Leaked" and dated April 4, 2014.
The author writes: "Just days—hours, really—after the BMW X4 made its official debut at the Beijing auto show, prices for the U.S. model have appeared on Autoblog, apparently through a leak."
For the record, the Beijing Auto Show won't open up to the press world until April 20, 2014, while U.S. pricing from the BMW X4 has been available since its online reveal more than a month ago on March 5, 2014 (see our piece here). Evidently, C&D confused the leaked order guide that was out on April 3, with vehicle pricing.
Still, you could always follow the advice of MT/Automobile Mags' Todd Lassa who once told readers in a piece regarding traditional journalism and the blog-o-sphere, "So here's my advice, dear modern multi-media consumer: when you want the real story, come back to this space and other websites of well-established news organizations".

2015 BMW X4 Revealed, Priced From $45,625: Live Photos
The success of BMW’s original X6 coupe-like crossover has surprised many, including most other makes which are now in the rush to launch rival versions of their own. BMW, however, has beat them to the punch yet again by launching a second coupe-like crossover, the all-new 2015 X4, which has been revealed in full today ahead of its world debut at the 2014 New York Auto Show next month.
The vehicle is based on the same underpinnings as the X3, just as the larger X6 shares its underpinnings with the X5, and it is being manufactured at BMW’s plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Targeting style and performance rather than utility, the X4 will go up against similar models in the small crossover segment such as the Range Rover Evoque and latest Porsche Macan and Lincoln MKC.
The body has four doors though is shaped like a coupe. Compared to the X3, the X4 is positioned as the sportier option and thus features a more planted stance: at 184.3 inches in length, it is 0.6 inches longer than the X3, but is also 1.5 inches lower (height is 63.9 inches). Despite the low roof, BMW has managed to squeeze three seats in the rear, though we suspect things will be a bit tight there.
Engine offerings in the U.S. mirror those of the latest 2015 BMW X3, which means a base turbocharged 2.0-liter four rated at 240 horsepower, found in an X4 xDrive28 model, and a more powerful turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six model good for 300 horsepower, found in an X4 xDrive35i. Unlike the X3, which offers a rear-wheel-drive option, all X4’s will come with xDrive all-wheel drive as standard.
An eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters is fitted as standard across the range, too. BMW says X4 xDrive28i owners can expect 0-60 mph acceleration in 6.0 seconds while the X4 xDrive35i should do the feat in just 5.2 seconds.
BMW isn’t expected to launch a dedicated M version of the new X4, though we could see a sportier M Performance model launched with some healthy upgrades. In the meantime, those customers looking to add some sport to their X4 can opt for an M Sport package (featured in gallery above) which adds a more aggressive body kit and some M goodies. These include custom door sills, light alloy wheels and a leather steering wheel.
The 2015 BMW X4 hits showrooms this spring, priced from $45,625 for the X4 xDrive28 and $48,925 for the X4 xDrive35i. Both prices include destination charges.

BMW X4 M due in 2017, could use the M2's engine - report
http://www.worldcarfans.com/11405127...ngine---report
Could have approximately 380 PS (279 kW)
BMW M President Dr Friedrich Nitschke has revealed an X4 M is likely several years off.
In an interview with Drive, Nitschke said the company is focused on developing the X5 M and X6 M so their engineering resources are limited at the moment. He went on to say “The X4 is the sportiest version of the X3 and in the future maybe we will bring such a car, but we won’t be doing it in this model cycle.”
The website goes on to say the model will be launched when the facelifted X4 is introduced in 2017. While nothing is official, sources have suggested the model will eschew the M3 and M4's TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine - that produces 431 PS (317 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque - for the M2's turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that develops approximately 380 PS (279 kW).
