The current generation Prado, 4Runner and GX are all related, they are all built off the same chassis and platform. Parts from all three are scattered across the line. The only exclusive thing that is of imporrance is the 4.6.
In realilty, the current FJ, Land Cruiser, Prado, GX and 4Runner are some what related somehow. For example, the 4.6/6speed in the GX is the same as the 4.6/6speed in the Land Cruiser. Even the Chinese GX400 uses the same 4.0 as the Land Cruiser 4.0 in select markets.

I'm very disappointed that Toyota managed to make it even uglier. They really need to make the next-gen model look MUCH better. I'm a big Land Cruiser/Prado fan, and on looks alone I would not buy this refreshed model.

agreed. it's a shame because it drives beautifully.

from the pics, it looks like they made it nicer than original... i see plenty of them daily, even our police has 50 of them (white ones), they look really top notch.

There was a recent base model Tacoma that had that grille.
It's also interesting to note, the rear tails are getting the same funky light pattern as the new Avalon. Don't care for it- it's tacky and blingy.

The difference, of course, is that the Tacoma looked good. Just like the refreshed 4Runner, this is pure awful and completely ruins an otherwise great vehicle.

thats front end garnish making it look like that.. it is optional accessory people like to tack on... used to be a bull bar but those are banned now.
So basically, if we disregard this plastic bull bar thats dealer added, only thing that has changed upfront is new headlights with LEDs... everything else looks 95% the same.

So from THIS

THAT

and a BORING looking Lexus derivative
The facelift makes the LC150 even uglier.
---------------
With that said though, if you have MONEY, don't bother getting any of those three.
Get a Land Cruiser 200 instead
-It looks nicer
-More powerful engine/powertrain lineup (especially the 1VD-FTV which is a 4.5 liter D-4D V8 Turbodiesel Engine)
-More features and more goodies
In addition, if you have EVEN MORE MONEY
Get an LC200
AS WELL AS
a Lexus LX
At the moment (for me):
Land Cruiser 200 + Lexus LX > Land Cruiser 150 + Lexus GX (current model)

They also have the 4.6 1UR-FE on the LX ( LX460) in China.

1) Vehicle taxation in Hong Kong is much much higher (first year registration tax + engine displacement tax, etc.)
2) Fuel prices (something like fuel is taxed an additional 48%)............though then again, if you can afford these premium SUVs, then fuel cost is irrelevant
3) The 5.7 liter engine is only Euro-3 AFAIK.....and in Hong Kong, all new cars need to satisfy Euro-4 emission standards at minimum. Hence, I think they chose the next best thing which was the 1UR-FE which is Euro 5 compatible.
