Hypothetical: Your 100-150k sports car

Can you snag a Ferrari 458 Italia for that type of coin?
Not a big fan of Lambos. Aston Martin DBS or DB9 would be killer, granted its more of a GT car and isn't as fast as any of the other cars I've mentioned.
If you want to have the fastest thing on the road, ZR1 Vette with about $10-15k in mods(smaller supercharger pulley, bigger intercooler, intake, full exhaust including headers). Looking at 700rwhp right there in a car that weighs 3100lbs.

I am a Mercedes fan so I'd recommand their upcoming SLC which slots right into your price range, it is suppose to be a Porsche 911 competitor so expect similar performance.
My second choice would be c63 black series which retails for 130k.

Is she buying brand new? If so, I'd get an SL63 AMG. It's got a folding hardtop with a glass roof that can change from clear to opaque, skull crushing performance, an adjustable suspension that actually works, and an amazing exhaust note. Not to mention excellent build quality and ride quality. It's a do-it-all vehicle.
However, if she's trying to go exotic then yeah go for an Aston. Any of them will do, since people can't tell the difference between models.

Call me a socioeconomic snob but I'd feel weird spending $150k on a used car. I think part of the fun at that level is the prestige factor that comes with driving a car like that, but the prestige factor is only relevant if you buy new.
Like, what's more prestigious, Joe Schmoe spending $40k on a used BMW 7 series or some guy spending high $30s (or maybe even $40k?) on a loaded Toyota Camry.
Granted, a lot of people don't care about the prestige factor. They just like driving certain cars and if people think them more prestigious for it (like someone driving a used BMW 7 series), that's an unwanted side effect. That I can respect.
But I don't know, it's your decision. If it were me, I'd by a V8 R8 brand new. Maintenance will probably cost you an arm and a leg, so you can save the $20k-$25K or so after you pay $125k-$130k for the car for maintenance.

Great suggestions, I was thinking Aston Martin too and definitely prefer brand new and/or really low miles.
First car coming to mind was the R8, there needs to be more options in this price segment...also too bad the LF-CC is not available for production yet, now that would be a great buy at 150k.
