2015 Acura TLX Discussion
#725
As a 4-time TL owner and with my lease expiring I went to check out the TLX. Test drove the V-6 Tech model and must say it rides very nice. However I could see where they cheapened quality in order to keep the price down. While that was not a deal breaker as it is a new model their incentives are almost non-existent. Even what they offered to me as a 4-time buyer and current owner was $100/month over what a comparable ES would cost so Acura lost me as a customer.
Luckily the Acura dealer also has a Lexus franchise only 1/2 a mile away so I went over there and drove home in a new ES (Luxury and Nav packages, parking assist, BSM and some other goodies). I am a happy camper. I know that those who end up with TLX will most likely be happy with them but they should wait until supply catches up and exceeds demand so the car is better priced.

The TLX is suppose to be an upgrade from the TSX (which it is in terms of quality), but it won't exceed the 4th gen TL. Acura wants the TL owners to migrate to the RLX, not back down to the TLX. The RLX being a dud that it is (at least the FWD model), is not working out for Acura since many TL owners are either upgrading to a GS or a 5-series.

Lexus and even Toyota figured out that it's best to create unique front and rear bumpers for sport models, to differentiate the appearance, vs. tacked-on lips and body kits.
Too bad Acura can't figure that out. The lines of that kit look nice, but the seams and obvious "afterthought" appearance defeat any visual gains, IMO.

Just for starters - one strut instead of two to hold up the hood, eliminating fog lights on base models, no spare tire, no plugs for front license plate (now screws directly into bumper), no rear spoiler on Tech models and Bridgestone instead of Michelin tires. I know that those with more discerning eyes and more time to use them will point out more.

TSX had one hood strut, Audi A5 has 1 hood strut
most states require front plate
I'm glad it has no honda civic spoiler
I prefer Bridgestone over Michelin
no spare is better for weight savings
