Thats what Acura (sadly for some) is. The NSX might change their perception, but probably not. They need another sporty model and real Type-R's or Type-S's.

I hate to say this, but the NSX will come to market with dated styling. It's already visible in front and back. Car is also taking too long to get here. Yet another misstep from this wayward company.
Getting back to the TLX, nothing could upgrade this car better than simply dropping the shield grille. We've all come to accept it within the last five years. But accept we should not. The truth of the matter is, it's still abrasive, ungainly, and the singlemost feature that drags every recent Acura down several notches.

While the car is nothing special. I would take the 2.4 version as a daily driver over alot vehicles. At least I know the vehicle is going to be reliable and mainteance is probaly going to be cheaper than Lexus/Audi/BMW/MB.

that sums up acura's market. reliable, comfortable daily driver, a bit more style / nicer trim than mainstream brands, and cheaper than luxury brands.

it ain't a huge market, but it's not tiny either.

Off topic, but didn't Honda have big hopes for the ILX, and that turned out to be a huge sales flop. I think the TLX is priced nicely. Only time will time, but hopefully it will have decent sales.

Not everyone likes it, but the RDX falls into that area and it's selling well. Maybe Acura is on to something in the market segment they are after.

I like the TLX.

It's defiantly better than ES350 and probably on par or better than the IS too

Speaking of ES, Lexus really needs to beef up the ES as it has become a real weak link in the current lineup..

I remember the ES used to be a mini-LS, but this is no longer the case with the latest generation ES being consisted of cheap and awful materials and a appalling design!

^Keep the ES cheap, for all I care. Nice materials and LS-like quality should be for the GS.

Despite it's size, ES is an entry-level product.

Have you looked at the sales of the ES? It's doing just fine. Yes, updates and improvements will come with a refresh but drastic changes not needed.

The TL and ES used to sell tit for tat, the TL even outselling the ES a couple of years. Today that is no longer the case. I'm in a ES hybrid now and I'm trying to figure out all the complaining people are doing about the car. Sure some bits lack compared to a GS or LS but it is an ES, an entry level luxury car.

The ES is fine, it sells fine, the hybrid is amazing, the TLX could hope to do so well in regards to sales. They FWD V-6 TLX vs ES seems like a very fair fight.

The issue is the fact that
the sporty IS has a better interior quality & materials than the 'luxury' 6ES

Honestly sitting inside the new ES I got all sorts of 'tin can on wheels' vibes!

Which is in massive contrasts from the ultra luxury and plush ES330 predecessor, even the 5ES was much better.

When they did the 4Gen ES, they really did it right. Material-wise, it was anything BUT cheap. I wish I had bought one a new one while I still had the chance....though I am just as pleased with what I have now.

How did you get one of those, Mike? Loaner car while yours is in for service, or just a routine test-drive?

the tlx is respectable, not flashy, refined and no doubt reliable and not that expensive. so it fits.
Actually I think I fall into MOST of those categories as well - I would never own/drive a MB,
only BMW would only be an M3/4 or 235.

in my next car I'm actually going to go back to sporty not luxury...... STI / GTI / Golf R / Focus ST. Even with an Acura, people are like wow, you drive an Acura? Nice. I honestly do not want that reaction...I don't need/want to be propped up by impressing someone with my car, I just want something sporty for ME. And no these people mentioned above are not enthusiasts (obviously) they are real everyday normal working folks -- but the brand still brings respect without being over-the-top flashy.
