Driverless Infiniti Q50 hits 100 km/h on the highway [video]
Active Lane Control system on focus
In a recent YouTube video, the driver of a new Infiniti Q50S Hybrid lets his car drive itself on a highway in Austria at a constant speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).
This video, uploaded by VPmagazin, first shows us the vehicle reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) with the driver just taking his hands off the steering wheel. On the next step, he even decides to sit on the passenger’s seat and just watch what’s happening. As the man points out, “the system (Active Lane Control) doesn't turn off if you take your hands off the steering wheel”.
In the UK the Q50S Hybrid is rated at 40,000 GBP ($67,500) and is equipped with a 364 PS (268 kW) V6 3.5-liter engine, regenerative braking, sports suspension and brakes. The Active Lane Control system is part of the optional equipment that also includes a 14-speaker Advanced Bose sound system, a navigation system, an adaptive front lightning, a tire pressure monitoring, power & heated folding door mirrors, an intelligent cruise control and other safety systems as well.
In the USA the model is available for $49,055 (29,000 GBP).

I would not trust mine that much
It seems to work best in the middle lane
Mine gets confused some times when I am in the right hand lane and the stripe at the right for the shoulder of the road is yellow and/or not well painted

Lexus Test Driver
I for one would never do that on a road here in Montreal. Most of the lines dividing lanes are non-existent, so the computer would think it would be one large lane. At least nothing bad happened during this test of theirs.

Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype tackles Spa-Francorchamps [video]
Has a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 with 568 PS (417 kW)
Infiniti has released a new promotional video of the Q50 Eau Rouge prototype at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
In the clip, Sebastian Vettel is pitted against Parker Kligerman and Nine-Ball World Champion snooker player Pan Xiaoting to see who can travel the longest distance in the allotted time. Unsurprisingly, Vettel was given the most time and 'won' the race.
According to Vettel, “Even though it was difficult to get a proper feel for the car’s performance due to the wet track, the engineering team have made definite improvements to the car in the areas of steering and suspension since I first drove it earlier in the year." He went on to say "All in all it was an interesting day and we had fun. It was a privilege to be given the task of driving the Q50 Eau Rouge on one of the most demanding corners in the world.”
While a production version is basically a given at this point, Infiniti says the model is "currently under evaluation."
