Lol. I guess you're no big fan of Aston using Benz engines in the future either.
The difference is AM is a small firm with no money for R&D to develop their own (the current 6.0 V12 is after all two Ford 3.0L 'Duratec' V6's) whereas Nissan and Renault have a array of powertrains to choose from and more money.

My point was that Nissan is capable and actually used to make amazing drivetrains. Think of GTR.
This is Nissans motor, not Infinitis. And good luck selling it at 100k.
And btw this thread is about the Q50 in general and they are sourcing a Benz 4 cylinder built right here in Tennessee.
No way they're selling this for a $100,000. It better be in the $70s and top out at $80k to get anyone to really consider it. Speed isn't everything.
The engine looks delicious under the hood, still not worth any where near 6 figures. Infiniti better hope they can sell regular Q50s, let alone a hi-po model.

This is not a volume vehicle. If the GTR sells for over 100k (and is worth that amount), do you really think a 4-door luxury version from Nissan's luxury brand isn't?
Infiniti sells 75k QX80s all day long. I doubt very highly a GTR-based high performance Q50 is going to sell for less. Enthusiasts will certainly consider it, just like enthusiasts considered and bought the GTR. This kind of post makes me laugh.

Really? not worth anywhere near 6 figures? Why is that? If a Nissan GTR is "worth" more than 6 figures, as proven by the market, why wouldn't a premium 4-door version be "worth it"?
And Infiniti doesn't need to hope they can sell regular Q50s when they already sells tons of them every month.

They have more money yes, but they're still trying to utilize their partnership where it makes sense. de Nysschen is clearly focusing his money somewhere else and its also clear nothing in their current lineup had the power output and emissions standards to get the job done. Mercedes and Infiniti are clearly OK with being in bed together at this point (Q30/MFA platform Benzes, for example) so I don't really see this as a big deal.

SR20DET
RB engine
VQ
etc
Those are (were) all excellence
I still have no doubt they are capable of doing so. But Mercedes is particularly eager right now to share the development costs of their I4/V6/soon-to-be I6 engines- since they already had a technical partnership with Renault/Nissan, why wouldn't Infiniti take advantage of this? This is especially important given the fact that Infiniti is going to be spending all of their development dollars revamping the model line in a big way under de Nysschen.
im a big nissan/infiniti guy but i think they dropped the ball big time with the Q50 interior anyone else feel the interior was a big let down? I mean just look at the competition

Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I think most people would agree that
The 3-Series interior is among the worst of it's competitive set. But the former two (Q50 and A4) have equally impressive materials. All you have to do is pick your favorite design which is subjective.
Does anyone else think it kinda looks like a Sonata?
The Sonata was inspired by the G37..and the Q50 is a clear evolution of its predecessor. But yes they ended up looking similar. You can even see it in Hyundai's nav controls.

So what you are saying is Hyundai borrowed from Nissan, and Nissan than turned around and borrowed right back from Hyundai.
