LS600hL was the first sedan to feature all LED headlights. Mr Burns is not being sarcastic. Just telling the truth.

Thought he meant LEDs DRLs in the headlights since he was talking about LED DRLs.

Yes is a little confusing.

But if I remember right, Audi was the 1st to have LED DRL, in the R8 I think.

But LS600 was the 1st to have LED low beam. I don't think the high beam are LED though. Audi might have the 1st LED high beam after that.

I believe this is correct. Also Lexus was the first or one of the first to put LED lights inside the car and with the license plate. A ton of cars still have halogen light interiors and plates, looks old. Lexus led the way with this.

Fwiw, Mercedes with the CLS was first to have full LED headlamps with low beam, high beam, DRLs and turn signal

Whats funny is I'm driving a CLS 63 now and the interior lights are halogen, not LED. But the headlights, blinkers etc all are.

I don't know if this is a fact. But that could be intentional. For my personal preference, I prefer halogen for interior lights because they provide a warmer and more cozy feeling, LED looks more modern and high tech and all, but it feels cold.

Maybe the MB's designer feel the same as me. I doubt MB is cheaping out on some light bulbs on a CLS 63.

^^ took the words out of my mouth. The map lights are probably LED like my C class but they keep the dome lights yellow

No I meant LED headlights. Lexus was first with LEDs in headlights period, so it makes sense for a brand that has traditionally led in lighting to try something like the 3IS before other brands.

No one want their car interior to look like strip joint either.

Surely in such a high tech car its not about cost cutting but it looks low rent. LED is not even the future, it is now. In the GX 460 I had we hated the halogen lights, it makes me sleepy (wife was doing a lot of reading in the car) and feels cheep. The new LEDs are much more intense than in the past for good reading like in the 4GS F-sport. The vanity mirrors are still halogen.

I just find it odd that this CLS 63 has LEDs out the wazzoo front and rear but inside its halogen.

LEDs and Xenon/HIDs typically last longer than halogens (sometimes a lot longer), but can cost an arm and a leg when they do need replacing.
