nissan with a lexus heart.
my friend travis aka inlynetrbo said i should show some of the lexus guys some love, and post my build here.
my names brandon I'm 22 live in san diego I'm an auto body technician and i have owned this truck for about 4.5 years.... enough about me heres the truck.
we will go chronologically.
its a 90 nissan d21 started out as a 4cyl 2wd 5 speed single cab base model truck with 65k miles.
immediately followed by lowering, wheels, 4x4 fenders, tint and the paint was flaking off so i spray bombed it.
i decided i wanted a multi-purpose truck for drifting, autocross, drag racing, and daily driving.... :roll eyes:
so i swapped rear ends to an lsd frontier housing.
which i ultimately failed at, returned to the d21 rear axle with welded diff, and three linked it. which used gsxr rear shocks.
after the hydro brake it basically went down hill into a drift truck.
bought a couple different sets of wheels.
gutted the interior
and realized my old rear suspension was garbage. so again made something new.
installed a 240sx intake
made some front coil overs.
then proceeded to beat the living crap out of it for over a year.
the truck didn't really undergo to many changes for a long time.
that is until i got greedy
which lead to me blowing up my motor.
i swapped in a 240sx motor that i had rebuilt, didn't turbo it though.
then i was back in action
made some high angle drift knuckles
and continued my habitual rev-limiter bashing

the truck was fun but felt like it only had 1 nut. so i swung a deal with my boss, worked two saturdays and got a sc400, or what was left of one.
said goodbye to my freshly built 7k mile ka24e
then came all of the disemboweling of both vehicles
the car sat for 8 years with no oil pan so i opted to rebuild it, myself.
used an ls400 oil pan and made a 240sx k member fit the sc400 motor mounts.
started caging it
and grafting in 240sx front suspension and steering.
i test fit the motor and realized i was in for a headache. needed to make a new firewall, transtunnel and run floor mount pedals.
made some tube shock towers to tie into the cage
finished up the 5 speed swap with a w58, t56 t/o bearing and custom adapter my friend made for me and a custom t/o bearing support.
truck sat for a little while
and i realized with how far back i put the motor, how far back the 240sx steering column sits, and how far back the pedals would have to be mounted, i was screwed for leg room =/
so f-it ill make it an extra cab
leg room at last!

didn't turn out too bad either
got my final fitment dialed in
got a toyota tacoma 8.25 axle with 3.53 gears and welded the diff
figured my wheelbase was way to short and my old frame was twisted in the rear so.....
v-mounted my radiator
and then the wiring.... oh the wiring
bought a bunch of stuff
sc400 cluster that works lol
fuel cell set up.
and fired it up!!!!!
erg block off's
pedals mounted
cockpit handled
just finished the 4 link and now this is how it sits.
stay tuned, all i need to actually drive it now is a driveshaft, brake lines, radiator hoses, power steering lines, and other knick knack items.
hope you guys enjoy my build

I still cant get over the amount of trial and error and fabrication that has been poured into this truck. This is one thing the good lord didnt bless me in, and thats welding.

haha thanks, its just something you gotta keep working at i guess. nobody taught me how to weld, i just grabbed the welder in my autoshop class back in high school and never put it down. I'm glad you guys enjoy this, the v8 swap has been a year and a half in the making. i just want to drive it so bad now.
