Toyota hustles to remedy low crash ratings
Midcycle changes to boost vehicles' small overlap safety

August 26, 2013 - 12:01 am ET
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Toyota Motor Corp. is racing to make its cars stronger in frontal crash tests after some vehicles, including the RAV4 compact crossover, were stung by poor safety ratings.
At long last!! With the latest 2015 IIHS Top Safety Pick winners announced, Lexus, Toyota and Scion together now have the most models passing the test of all automakers. The RAV4, which was rated Poor even after an emergency mod, is now rated Good in the small frontal overlap crash test too.

Hopefully Toyota has learned the lesson and can be more forward-looking in its safety designs from now on to avoid such an embarrassment from happening ever again. It had been a torturous 4 years for all of us Toyota/Lexus supporters.
