w221 tech is definitely outdated, but with mb i am always hesitant on the depreciation. getting a new car and its value falls off the cliff faster than anything and i am a bit more conscious about my money than that.
That's when you know a new S-Class is for very rich people only, people that can afford to flush $20k~$30k down the toilet annually

Depreciation slowed down, but the high repair cost kicks in...........the cost of ownership is still sky high, unless you dump it quickly before anything break.
to me the weak point of the w222 is still the taillights, somehow they look a bit little especially since now the trunk lines slopes down. but overall i do think w222 is better than w221
Many think that was some British design influence on the W222's styling. Note the Ghost, Phanton, and Mulsanne all have small rear tail lights.
Wynwood, Miami’s art district, is the place to be the second weekend of December. Galleries from around the world call Wynwood home for the week, or in some cases, month, showcasing a myriad of paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, and installations throughout the neighborhood. Whilst 75,000 people walk the gallery-filled streets, artists are actively painting pieces on any and all bare walls—but behind those walls is where the real parties are.
This year, Vossen Wheels, a premier wheel manufacturer that calls Miami home, teamed up with MetroWrapz, to showcase their Renntech-built Mercedes Benz S550 in an event dubbed ‘Product Placement’. Wrapped in 3M reflective vinyl and lit with UV light, the S550’s look takes much inspiration from Jon Olsson’s winter-savvy Audi RS6, but with a hint of Miami flare.

haha no doubt. keep in mind a lot of these cars are leased anyway. once they are done in 3 years, dealerships / mb actually take a hit on the car because a lot of times the residuals set are higher than the market value.
well if getting a used one, i always factor in a warranty as part of the purchase price. then drive it and have it covered, when it runs out, time to change again

oh yes, i noticed and agreed that it's definitely going after all these brands. in a way it's also carry over that old maybach feel too

Lease payment on a new base S63 is $3500, still $40k down the toilet annually.

That is valid, I should think about doing that sometime. I wonder when aftermarket warranty company is going to exclude AMG vehicles, as it is a 100% money loser.
The W220 is an exception, it is not much of anything
There is always exception to every rule
I actually think it' s the best looking S Class sedan ever by quite a margin at least up to that point , too bad it's the worst in terms of quality/reliability built during Mercedes' worst era ......
