The one in the show is like a silver/blue color with a cream interior...

They did very well with maintaining the same platform as the W221. One would believe it's 100% ground-up. My partner and I rode in one (full-spec) the other day on the way back to Paris CDG. The rear is still a very pleasant place to be (from base to highest), and eons better than the 2005-09 W221 (likely S280) that took us to our hotel earlier upon arrival.
My father lately, has been looking to trade up his 2012 A8L W12 (from my mother), and for the first time ever, the S-Class is a contender! He never liked ether the W140, W220, or W221 (only the W116, W126), so those were often skipped. Usually he's maintained an English-only preference for this size of saloon and has never been too interested in the S-Class nor MB in general (outside of the Gelandewagen).
I really do not believe the Flying Spur (on top of his list) is as advanced as the W222 and I'm trying dissuade him from moving to that, as only the Mulsanne is a worthy buy (he hates it). Another XJ is out of the question until 2018 for obvious reasons (likes it, unlike X351), so something in between will have to suffice. Lexus LS was almost a consideration, but apparently nothing noteworthy until late 2016.
The Panamera Turbo S Executive is unusually 2nd on his list, as it seems like overkill and my mother even doesn't like it. Looks like either a 2015 A8L or 2015 S600 might be a sensible choice, even though the Audi is rather dull by comparison IMHO.
