SUMMARY:
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Nissan Altima vehicles manufactured March 6, 2012, to December 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.

^ Good old Nissan quality right there. Install the cheapest possible hood latch. Then botch the recall. Man that is really dangerous if the latch were to totally fail, like 10 billion times worse than the Toyota floor mat scandal or GM's ignition switch.

Default Honda issues stop sale on 2016 Civic with 2.0-liter engine

OFFICIAL STOP SALE / RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM HONDA (courtesy of HondaMan):

DATE: January 30, 2016
TO: All Honda Parts & Service Managers, Advisors and Personnel
FROM: Campaign Administration
RE: Stop Sale/Safety Recall: 2016 Civic Piston Pin Snap Ring

On Friday, January 29, 2016, American Honda notified NHTSA of a stop sale and safety recall for approximately 34,000 2016 Civic vehicles due to potentially missing or misset piston pin snap rings that may cause engine stall or failure. Any new or used units in dealer stock must be inspected, and if necessary, repaired per service bulletin 16-017, Safety Recall: Piston Pin Snap Ring once the parts, tools, and complete repair information are available. Refer to your eResponsibility report or VIN inquiry to determine which units in your inventory are affected by this safety recall.

Note: Affected vehicles should not be sold until the repair has been completed. Should an unrepaired vehicle result in any claim because of the required recall repair, the dealership will be solely responsible to the claimant, and will be required to defend and indemnify American Honda for any resulting claims.

All affected units will require use of a borescope to inspect the four cylinders to confirm correct piston pin snap ring placement. Vehicles exhibiting any concerns with piston pin snap ring placement may require replacement of damaged pistons, piston pins or rings, or other related engine components.

Replacement parts are not available at this time. American Honda is working to procure a sufficient number of borescopes and replacement parts to satisfy this recall. As such, the version of bulletin 16-017 posted on the Service Information System does not currently contain any tool, parts, warranty, inspection, or repair information. Once tools and parts are made available, American Honda will revise service bulletin 16-017 to include all details related to this recall. American Honda will notify dealers of the bulletin revision and tool distribution details via iN message.

Customers affected by this safety recall may visit your dealership prior to tool, parts and/or repair procedure availability. Please be sure to inform these customers of the safety recall, being sure to let them know that tools and parts are not currently available, and that they will be notified once supply stabilizes. American Honda expects to conduct customer notification in mid-March 2016. By this time, all necessary tools, parts and details are expected to be available.

Default Dodge recalls 2011-2016 Charger to give owners wheel chocks

February 3, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is conducting a voluntary safety recall to supply wheel chocks for an estimated 441,578 full-size sedans in the U.S.

The chocks are for use, as instructed in the vehicle's owner's manual, when employing a tire jack to change wheels. When positioned diagonally opposite to the wheel being changed, the chocks will help stabilize the vehicle.

Failure to follow the manual's instructions with an affected vehicle may cause the vehicle to come off the tire jack. FCA US is aware of three related injuries – all minor.

The recall is limited to 2011-2016 Dodge Chargers. Also affected by the campaign are an estimated 19,229 cars in Canada; 4,969 in Mexico and 38,947 outside the NAFTA region.

Recall notices will advise affected customers when they may obtain their wheel chocks, which will be supplied free of charge.

Customers with questions or concerns may call the FCA US Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Default Toyota and Lexus recall models for inadvertent airbag deployment

Toyota and Lexus Recall Certain Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Tundra, Sequoia, LX, and GX Vehicles

February 02, 2016
TORRANCE, Calif., February 2, 2016 – Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it is conducting a safety recall of approximately 320,000 Model Year 2003-2006 Land Cruiser; 2004-2006 4Runner; 2005-2006 Tundra and Sequoia; 2003-2006 LX 470; and 2004-2006 GX 470 vehicles.

The involved vehicles are equipped with side Curtain-Shield-Airbags (CSAs) which deploy from the roof in the event of certain types of crashes. Due to improper programming in the airbag control modules, there is a possibility that, under certain specific and limited conditions shortly after startup, the CSAs and seat belt pretensioners could activate when not necessary. Unexpected activation of the CSAs could increase the risk of injury to the occupant.

All known owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail. Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the airbag control module with one which has an improved programming at no cost to owners.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time. For the most up-to-date Safety Recall information on Lexus, Toyota and Scion customers should check their vehicle's status by visiting http://www.toyota.com/recall and entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). "Don't slam the door!" I keep having to remind my son (my wife's Accord has doors that are either tremendously heavy, stick or are poorly balanced, making them hard to close, whereas my ES doors are very well balanced and easy to close)... "You could set off the airbag!".

Default Scion FR-S recalled for key interlock problem

TOYOTA RECALLS CERTAIN SCION FR-S VEHICLES

TORRANCE, Calif., February 9, 2016 – Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. today announced that it is conducting a safety recall of approximately 26,000 Model Year 2013-2016 Scion FR-S vehicles.

In the involved vehicles, connectors for the automatic transmission key interlock on some vehicles may not have been connected during pre-delivery service prior to sale. If the delivery mode connectors are not connected, it is possible to remove the key in gear positions other than "Park", causing the vehicles not to comply with a portion of Federal/Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 114. This could increase the risk of vehicle rollaway and a crash.

All known owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail and instructed to return the vehicle to a Toyota dealer to have the ignition key interlock function confirmed, and if necessary, delivery mode connectors connected at no charge.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time. Manufacturer Recall Number 20760
Units Affected The number of vehicles or components affected by the recall. 46,837

Default Toyota recalls more than 1 million RAV4s for seatbelt problem

TOYOTA RECALLS CERTAIN RAV4 and RAV4 EV VEHICLES

TORRANCE, Calif., February 17, 2016 – Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. today announced that it is conducting a safety recall of approximately 1,124,000 Model Year 2006-2012 RAV4 and Model Year 2012-2014 RAV4 EV vehicles.

The involved vehicles are equipped with lap-shoulder seatbelts in both second-row outboard seats. There is a possibility that, in the event of a very severe frontal crash, the lap belt webbing could contact a portion of the metal seat cushion frame, become cut, and separate. If this occurs, the seat belt may not properly restrain the occupant, which could increase the risk of injury.

Owners of the involved vehicles will receive notification by first class mail. Toyota dealers will add resin covers to the metal seat cushion frame at no cost.

Default Ford recalls F-150 for occupant classification system issue

Ford issues safety recall for certain 2016 Ford F-150 trucks in North America for multi-contour seat issue

Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 3,700 2016 Ford F-150 trucks equipped with multi-contour seats. If the multi-contour front passenger seat massage function is turned on and an adult is in that seat, the occupant classification system may incorrectly classify the adult as a child – suppressing the front passenger airbag and increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

Affected vehicles include certain 2016 Ford F-150 trucks built at Dearborn Truck Plant from April 27, 2015 through Nov. 22, 2015. There are a total of 3,683 vehicles that might be affected in North America, including 2,894 in the United States and federalized territories, 286 in Canada and 503 in Mexico.

Default Honda recalls 2016 Civic 2.0-liter engine for piston issue

RECALL Subject : Piston Wrist Pin Circlips may not be Secured

Report Receipt Date: FEB 09, 2016
NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V074000
Component(s): ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Potential Number of Units Affected: 42,129
All Products Associated with this Recall close
Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s)
HONDA CIVIC 2016

Details

Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)

SUMMARY:
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2016 Civic vehicles manufactured September 22, 2015, to February 3, 2016 and equipped with 2.0L engines. The affected vehicles have engines with piston assemblies that may have been manufactured without a piston wrist pin circlip or with an incorrectly installed piston wrist pin circlip.

CONSEQUENCE:
If a circlip is missing or incorrectly installed, the piston wrist pin may not be secure and may drift and damage the engine cylinder causing the engine to seize, and increasing the risk of a crash or a fire.

REMEDY:
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the piston assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Parts are expected to be available in the Summer of 2016. Owners will be mailed an interim notification beginning March 15, 2016, and will be mailed a second notice when parts are available. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009. Honda's number for this recall is JX9.

NOTES:

Statement by American Honda Regarding 2.0 Liter Engine Piston Pin Circlip Recall: 2016 Civic Sedan

Feb 23, 2016 - TORRANCE, Calif.

• Approximately 42,000 Civic Sedans equipped with the 2.0-liter engine affected in the United States;

• No turbo engine models are affected by this action

• Engine will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired, free of charge

American Honda will voluntarily recall approximately 42,000 Civic Sedans from the 2016 model year equipped with the 2.0 liter engine to inspect the engine pistons and, if necessary, repair any damaged components, free of charge. Honda has received one report of an engine fire related to this issue and one separate unconfirmed report of a minor injury that did not require medical attention.

During assembly of certain 2.0 liter engines, piston assembly manufacturing errors could have resulted in a missing or mis-set piston pin circlip. Engine vibration can cause such an unsecured piston pin to move out of place and interfere with the engine cylinder wall, potentially resulting in a seized engine. A seized engine will cause unexpected deceleration and loss of motive power, increasing the risk of crash. Engine block damage could also occur and allow for engine oil leakage, increasing the risk of fire in the presence of an ignition source.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage each owner of an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. Mailed notification to customers will begin in late-March 2016. Additionally, owners of these vehicles can determine if their vehicles will require inspection by going to www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.
