Default Porsche 911 facelift prototype crashes in Stuttgart [video of aftermath]

A prototype of a Porsche 911 facelift was involved in a minor crash in Stuttgart, Germany.

According to the author of the video, it was a base 911 Carrera which sustained some light damage to the front end as the bumper, headlights and grille were affected by the impact. The vehicle was wearing minimal camouflage since only the headlights and taillights had a plastic wrap to hide the original design while the steering wheel had a full cover which was applied shortly after the incident.

The most interesting part about this Porsche 911 facelift prototype is noticeable at the back where the round dual exhaust tailpipes sit in the middle but most likely this is just an intermediary setup used for testing so expect the final product to have the usual oval exhausts placed at a bigger distance from one another.

The facelifted Porsche 911 range is scheduled to come out later this year, possibility in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Join me for my first look round and drive in the UK version of the new Porsche 911 GTS, which fills the gap between the Carrera S and the GT3.

Default Porsche 911 GT3 RS will have 500 HP and 460 Nm flat-six 4.0 engine

PDK only

A leaked internal document has revealed all the juicy technical specifications of the highly anticipated Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

It turns out rumors were spot on as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS will have 500 HP (368 kW) coming from a newly developed flat-six 4.0-liter engine generating a maximum torque of 460 Nm (340 lb-ft). The motor will work exclusively with a seven-speed PDK gearbox channeling power to the rear axle. It benefits from a Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) system and an electronically-controlled rear differential lock with full variable torque split.

It's about 50mm wider at the front and 30mm at the back compared to the 911 GT3 and rides on 20-inch front & 21-inch rear forged alloys wrapped around in 265/35 ZR 20 and 325/30 ZR 21 rear rubbers, respectively. Stopping power is provided by six-piston front & four-piston rear aluminum red brake calipers working with 380mm vented and cross-drilled compound brake discs featuring aluminum brake chambers.

The body is made from aluminum and steel composite while the rear lid, rear wing and full bucket seats are manufactured from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Forged aluminum was used for the air intakes and wings; magnesium for the roof and polycarbonate for the rear and front side windows.

A full reveal could occur as early as next week at the Geneva Motor Show but Porsche could decide to until September for IAA to avoid stealing the Cayman GT4's thunder at the Swiss show.

So I suppose the facelifted 2016 991 Turbo and Turbo S will have turbocharged version of the new 4.0 flat-six ??

Default Porsche announces Geneva debut for new track-oriented model, likely the 911 GT3 RS

Will have 500 HP

Porsche has disclosed plans to unveil a new track-oriented (still road-legal) model at next week’s Geneva Motor Show.

Described as being "another exceptional Porsche that sets new standards on the racetrack", the model in question is most likely the highly anticipated 911 GT3 RS. A leaked internal document has revealed the car will be powered by a newly developed 4.0-liter flat-six naturally aspirated engine with 500 HP (368 kW) and 460 Nm (340 lb-ft) of torque.

Purists will be disappointed to hear there won’t be a manual gearbox on offer as Porsche will sell the 911 GT3 RS only with a 7-speed PDK transmission. Also part of the package are the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus system, electronically-controlled rear differential lock (with full variable torque split) and a variety of weight-saving measures such as a magnesium roof, polycarbonate rear and front side windows along with CFRP-made rear lid, wing and bucket seats.

Hiding behind the 20-inch front & 21-inch rear wheels will be 6-piston front & 4-piston rear aluminum brake calipers coupled to 380mm vented & cross-drilled compound brake discs equipped with aluminum chambers.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS will debut on March 3 at the Geneva Motor Show alongside the Cayman GT4 .

Default Facelifted 2016 Porsche 911's Interior Spied Undisguised!

What you see here is the interior of the upcoming 2016 Porsche 911 facelift, and more specifically, of the Turbo model.

One of the standout changes is the sexier-looking three-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the 918 Spyder, complete with a toggle switch on the right hand side.

In the 918 Spyder, this switch allows you to select among five distinct operating modes (E-Power, Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Race Hybrid and Hot Lap). Given the absence of the 'Sport' and 'Sport Plus' buttons on the lower center console behind the gear lever, we're guessing Porsche moved those functions to the toggle switch, perhaps adding a few new modes in the process.

Our spies tell us that they've seen the same steering wheel layout on other 991 facelift prototypes, so it may be offered across the range in conjunction with the Sport Chrono package.

The second thing that draws our attention on this tester is the new and larger touchscreen for the PCM infotainment system and the revised buttons right under it on the console.

On the outside, the 911 Turbo sports a revised front bumper with slim LED daytime running lights, a redesigned rear bumper, slicker door handles, a new engine cover with different vents, and even though we can't see them here, fresh graphics for the headlamps and new '3D' style rear clusters.

Changes are expected on the chassis too, while Porsche may tweak the Turbo's 3.8-liter flat-six that currently delivers 520PS (513hp) in standard and 560PS (552hp) in Turbo S forms.

I don't think so, the current 3.8L is only running 17.4 psi, there is still planty of boost pressure available to raise power.

The 4.0L is for NA RS only, because the NA motor is kinda maxed out.

I know the previous GT3 RS already had the 4.0 and they did not used it on the 991 turbo and turbo s, but I just wish they will for this refresh , the turbo S model is their most expensive top 991 model after all ...

The displacement is determine by the application, not by the price or position of the model

Besides, the Turbo S is only the most expensive for now with the 991, the GT3 RS and GT2 will cost the same or more. The previous 997 GT3 RS 4.0 had a higher MSRP then the 997 Turbo S. The Turbo S is becoming the middle of the range GT model in the 911 line up, it is no longer the top dog starting from the 993 generation

TURBO S middle of the range lol ? Porsche MSRP doesn't mean much, you have to add options which can be $40k to 50k more than base MSRP for the Turbo S.
Turbo & Turbo S are more GT like and meant to be a more comfortable dd., so there are more luxury/ fancy options you can add.
GT3 RS and GT2 (if there will be one this generation) will have limited options available over the base MSRP because they are more track focused.
Same for Cayman GTS and Cayman GT4, I have built both online, and never have the GT4 with options more expensive than the GTS with options that I want, even though the GT4 has the higher base MSRP ...

Yes, but that apply to the GT3 RS and GT2 also, whatever options you can add to a Turbo S, you can pretty much add to any of the 991 variants.

From my memories, the options pretty much apply to all variants.

There will be a GT2, don't believe the BS you read on the internet Ferrari officially announced they had no plan to build the 458 Speciale and Speciale Aperta also

They have limited options available because they are top dogs, already came with a lot of stuff as standard.

You are right, that is because the GT4 already came with a lot of stuff that the GTS doesn't have. Comparably equipped, a GT4 is cheaper then a highly optioned GTS. The top model is a cheaper bundle deal if you want everything on it because the options are so pricy individually.

That apply to Ferrari too, if you add all the stuff that came standard on the 458 Speciale to a base 458 Italia, the Italia would end up costing more.
