I fail to see what cutting edge power-train technology exists in MB for example? They are basically 7 years behind competition when it comes to V6 engines that go into most of their cars. They purchased Renault engines to use in their smaller cars. So why are they most prestigious brand then?

As to the hybrid system, I am sure Toyota would like to wave magical wand and make it all work. Afterall, they have the biggest R&D expense account in the industry for the past 10 years.

But it is not magic... They sold 1,200,000 hybrids last year, they will sell more this year... all competitors together dont sell 20% of that.

Even with 200h, 300h and 450h, people will complain on forums it is not enough.

In the US, diesels are starting to spawn, even from makes that do not usually produce them (Mazda6 diesel). So a traditionally petrol/hybrid country has accepted diesel power. Yet Lexus decides it is unwise to bring in the IS200d and the IS/GS hybrids. Ya we have the ESh, but having a lineup that is fully hybridized will do good to promote the luxury hybrid image that Lexus has, as well as offering more for the customer.

Come on, ToMoCo, bring in more options and you'll cash in the checks that the new customers will bring!
If I'm not mistaken, Mark Templin said that by the end of the 2013 or early 2014, Lexus would have 8 or 9 global hybrid models.

That would mean: CT200h, IS300h, ES300h, GS300h, GS450h, RX300h, RX450h and LS600h.

We might see this in the US market for the next year... Americans, don't lose faith!

That was Toyota, we don't know if that includes Lexus...

I still gotta find that video where Mark Templin said that they would have 8 or 9 global hybrid models.

yes, it includes Lexus as well... but thats until 2015, not 2013... until end of 2013, we get NX300h and thats about it (plus IS300h and GS300h).

It will be very very silly if Lexus doesn't sell GS 300H in US soon.

Increasingly frustrating to see Lexus offer great options to everyone but their biggest and most loyal market. They need a LWB GS there too.

Well MB has kick *** big displacement diesels that compete directly with 450h in all markets besides US, Russia, Japan and China. They also have great small displacement diesels to go against 300h offerings. But the biggest proof that they waiting too long is Nissan and M35h which has very close numbers as GS450h and Nissan didn't have a hybrid before this one.

is there LWB GS in China? Do rest of us really need LWB GS?

Should we start petition for Toyota to offer all of their 120 models worldwide? :-)

Good question. I don't think there is, but the ES supposedly does

Toyota's luxury brand Lexus will strengthen its foothold in China by selling an expanded range of hybrid vehicles, said Lang Lixin, deputy president of Lexus China on Nov 22, the opening day of the Guangzhou motor show. The all-new hybrid LS 600hL made its Chinese premiere at Lexus' largest-ever exhibition in the 10-year history of the Guangzhou event. Equipped with Lexus' latest hybrid technologies, its 5.0-liter V8 engine and electric motor can generate 327 kW in power while using the equivalent fuel of a conventional 3.5-liter V6 engine. The LS 600h has sold 730,000 units across the globe since it went on sale in 1989. The brand's hybrid lineup in China also includes the RX 450h, the GS 450h and a long-wheelbase version of the ES 300h tailored for China that just went on sale in July. Also among the hybrid portfolio is the CT 200h, a compact hybrid model that has had monthly sales over 1,000 units since it hit the market last year. Lexus now has about 80 percent of the hybrid segment in China's luxury market, Lang said. Among Lexus' current overall sales in China, 22 percent comes from hybrid vehicles, he said, adding that the brand hopes to raise the proportion to over 50 percent in 2015. As the major sponsor of the China Grand Prix of Figure Skating, Lexus showcased its hybrid portfolio to the public during the event. In 2013, the brand aims to make its hybrid models known to more people by hosting more brand building activities around the world, Lang said. China is now the second-biggest market for the Japanese luxury brand. In the first 10 months of 2012, it registered 32 percent year-on-year sales growth in the country, while its number of dealerships is expected to reach 100 by the end of the year. The brand also topped the 2012 list of JD Power's Initial Quality Study that examines defects and malfunctions in new vehicles in the first two to six months of ownership.

i think they have mistaken new ES getting longer wheelbase with lwb ES... ES is already huge at the back.

ES300h, IS300h, GS300h will sell really well internationally... I bet next gen RX gets 300h version next year... It might be slow, but China already has 2.7l 4cly RX270

Don't forget that Toyco is taking a run at fuel cell hybrids. They will have something for sales by 2015.
