The 911 line enjoyed a successful sales month, with an increase of 112 percent to 990 units, up from 465 in March 2012. Demand for the Cayenne SUV also remains strong, with the diesel and GTS models accounting for 45 percent of the 1,508 Cayenne units sold.

"And the tremendous media coverage of the 911 GT3 debut at the Geneva and New York Auto Show bodes well for a successful cadence of product launches this year."

Hard to believe that as a long-time owner and proponent of the GS you are not frustrated at the GS's low sales relative to the 5 and the E even after it finally became almost universally acclaimed to be as good a car as the 5 and the E. Wouldn't you love to see the GS beat the Germans at their own game? It baffles me that you of all people aren't getting frustrated that the GS isn't getting the share of love and sales it so deserves.

Yes their spin doctor was running his A-game with that press release. I wonder what triggered the downward trend- good thing they have new models hitting the streets shortly.

You are trolling by saying the GS was never on par to the German cars until the 4GS which is utterly ridiculous and not even worth refuting. So I'll tell all the GS owners what you think so when you post they know to ignore you or throw something at their computer screen. How does one even seriously refute that? It's comedy at best and to rile the GS owners you know who post in this thread.

People like you cannot be reasoned with. You sit here and are bashing the GS over and over for not outselling the Germans when it never will, no car will ever outsell the 5 series or E class. It just won't happen, you are holding the GS to some ridiculous expectation. The GS is a happy 3rd place again but that isn't good enough. Lexus doesn't even have the CAPACITY to sell that many GS models.

On the flipside you don't bring up German cars that cannot outsell the RX for example. Instead the RX is told its too small, its too big, its in the wrong class. Nothing will likely outsell the RX and I am sure the Germans and the others are happy with a lower sales goal they are meeting. I am 100% certain BMW is happy with 3,000 X3 and X5 sales a month and not beating each other up b/c COMBINED they are not close to the RX in the last month. They have their sales targets, meet then, champagne is toasted.

Unreasonable will be unreasonable. Not every car is meant to sell #1. Not sure how many times that needs to be typed.

Audi continues its tear. Amazing work.

Going to compile the data later...... I'm sure I'll be told how bad the GS is and it sucks ***** and should outsell the Accord next. I mean they are the same size right!

And yet you were just as happy as I was to learn that the 4GS outsold the 5 and the E in its homeland by a huge margin weren't you? It can happen. Just not as long as the ES is around.

Post Hyundai

Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of 68,306 units, down just 2 percent versus the best volume month Hyundai ever recorded last year, and up more than 30 percent over February levels. The first quarter of 2013 was the best in Hyundai’s history.

"March felt just great,” said Dave Zuchowski, executive vice president of national sales. “We definitely benefitted from better inventories of Elantra thanks to the addition of the third shift at our Alabama plant, improved weather conditions in our important Northern markets and more robust retail activity reflecting a steady recovery in consumer confidence. Elantra led the pack with an all-time monthly sales record of 26,153 units, up 33 percent year-over-year. Sonata Hybrid also set a new all-time sales record with 2,006 sales, up 13 percent versus last year.”

Fleet mix was 17 percent for the month and stands at 16 percent for the year, among the lowest in the industry.

“This March was an incredibly strong month for us, the second best sales month in our history, just two percent below our all-time record from last March,” said John Krafcik, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. “While our plants continue to stretch to hit our demand levels, we still have one of the tightest inventory levels in the industry. This month, you could see the impact of improved Elantra availability, but our dealers remain constrained on Sonata, which continues as one of the fastest turning mid-size cars in the industry.”

According to data from Cars.com, the traditional five highest volume mid-size sedans (Accord, Camry, Altima, Fusion, and Malibu) have 72 percent more dealer stock than Sonata.

Sales in March of Certified Pre-Owned vehicles totaled 6,715, up eight percent for the first quarter. More than 80 percent of Hyundai’s dealers are now participating in the CPO program, which has been a key component in driving Hyundai residual values to record high levels. Hyundai Elantra, Azera, and Santa Fe Sport are all ALG Residual Value award winners for the 2013 model year.

As predicted the new Accord demolishes everything else once its inventory catches up. Like Blueprint said it looks and feels like a premium car that renders Acura redundant. I'm impressed whenever I see one on the road. I hope that Toyota has learned that the Camry can't ride on its reputation forever by now.

Accord is a great car in this segment but March was strong for most of the top performers in this class. Both Altima and Camry actually outsold Accord with Fusion also doing very well with 30k.

Ah did not notice the Fusion outsold the Camry too! The Camry has surely fallen hard last month. The Accord sold over 36,500 (!) in March, so I'm not sure what you mean by both the Altima and the Camry outselling the Accord.
