Just wondering on people's opinions with the Camaro ZL1 vs the ISF. I have yet to see one on the roads, production numbers are low, and dealerships will not allow test drives.

Engine and suspension hardware is from the CTS-V and both weigh over 4000 lbs. From all the reviews of the ZL1, it seems like it's a good road and track car out of the box, with a performance edge slightly above the ISF. Just wondering if anyone has experience with a ZL1 and can compare it to the ISF, stock vs stock.

Numbers don't lie, stock for stock the ZL1 would rip the ISF a new one.......4100lb/580 hp/566 tq vs. 3800 lb/416hp/371 tq

But.....not sure if they're reliable, their luxury sucks, and suspension sucks, it's like a boat on wheels.

Dealerships aren't allowing test drives? What do they think it's a $100K supercar? It's just a glorified $50k Camaro.

The new Shelby GT500 is something to look at.....660+ hp / 600+ tq.....and it weighs as much as the F........

There was one parked at the resort I work for, I am prob not the person to compare it to anything cause I think camaros are god awful ugly. I did check it out, very big car, very cheesy looking candy apple red color, without seeing the owner I'm guessing he is 58, mustache, jean shorts and a semi-mullet haircut. I think car is 580hp and hits 60 in 4 seconds which isn't that impressive of a time for nearly 600hp

Its a Holden made product (quality), the LSA motor is stout and easy to work on with tons of aftermarket support.

The car is very heavy, but the magnetic suspension is wonderful.

Have you driven/sat in a 5th gen Camaro yet?

Lots of people did not like the feeling of being in the bottom of a Well when you are sitting in it.

Rumor is that the new camaro will be release on the lighter "ATS" platform for the next gen.

You can get that ZL1 to GT500 numbers very easy, its a GM motor. ZL1 rapes the GT500 on the track also. The ZL1 its also faster than a LP670-4 around the Ring. its a heck of car if you want track times. Daily driving, no thanks.

would way rather have a new shelby or a corvette over that camaro... ive seen a few in person and the looks just dont do it for me

I would rather have a Z06 over any camaro also, but you need to tack on like another $30,000 to a ZL1 price to be in Z06 range.

Haven't seen one in person, but I would not be so quick to dismiss it. My biggest con is that the car is huge and looks almost cartoonish. It weighs a lot and has very tall, wide and long dimensions. But the interior is not what you'd expect from a "typical american car" (meaning, it looks pretty nice actually) and if you believe the reviews online, the magnetic suspension really is something cool. That, and it is fast, both at a dragstrip and around a road course.

I just don't think people are cross-shopping (well, besides the OP maybe) the ZL1 and the ISF. Yes, they are roughly the same price, but I can't imagine someone who is looking for a fast luxury sports sedan would also look at the GT500 or ZL1.

Sorry VJ have to disagree with you on this one brother, the reliability factor is know longer issue with Camaro or most GM cars today. ZL1 comes with magnetic ride suspension one of best currently out its same unit that come in Vettes, CTS-V's it's so good that Ferrari is now using them in there cars. Is it heavy yes but with 580hp not really big issue when you get this car you know it big beast.

As far as GT500 go great car massive hp/tq number but that not whole story every review between the two has stated that all thou GT500 is faster in straight line and is slightly fast around track at willow springs due to more hp/tq (it's faster down the straight) ZL1 is better street car, it has better brakes more usable HP, in track mode is use the same program that vette has. ZL1 is way better DD than GT500 662hP and live axle? it has very stiff suspension and they say you know it bounces and skids off bumps on road. Your average driver could not extract most out GT500 it great weekend and track car but not so much when it comes to street car.

As far as look are concerned that always subjective look how many people say they don't like the way ISF looks so it is what it is. When you break it down it's kind of like M3 vs ISF debate one is better track / weekend car while the other is better DD street car both very close in performance numbers.

The ZL1 is no joke and the quality, while certainly not the same as our Fs, is still pretty good. I've seen a few around here and I think they look great. I also sat in one at a local C&C. I wouldn't buy one new but in the used market it would definitely be something I would be interested in.

For some reason I still have a soft spot for Chevy's I guess.

The Chevy dealers treat Camaros like gold. When they first came out they did no test drives, priced it 20k over sticker and barely let people touch it. They wouldn't even let me sit in it. I'll never buy any Chevy cause of that

The ZL1 decimates everything under $100k on that track. 7-8 seconds faster at VIR than an ISF, which is a huge margin.

As for the ZR1 and the $110k+ asking price, maybe just me, but rather go GTR BE.
