Non-glamour shots aside, I think the new Highlander looks pretty average in person. The front end is a lot more aggressive, and is less luxury than the current model as stated before. I like the rear end a lot better though compared to the current model which looks too soft and bland.

(Excuse the second to last photo, it was taken with the panorama mode so it didn't come out straight.)
Interior looks and more importantly feels very nice. It feels pretty solid and there aren't a lot of seams with this design. Seems like the design decreased the number of panels, especially in the center console area, so there are less places to squeak and become loose over time.

i like the interior, very simple and yet classy design that won't look outdated 10 years from now. i do not like the front fascia, it looks like a Subaru Tribeca as someone mentioned in this thread. the side and rear profiles are ho-hum, nothing special there. i'm eagerly awaits the '15 redesigned Honda Pilot, numerous rumors has it will share powertrain (Dream Earth direct inject V6) and platform with the new MDX.

This particular Highlander LE has the combination fabric + Softex seating which is becoming increasingly common in other Toyota models (Camry SE, Corolla, etc). The sides/bolsters are the Softex artificial leather with fabric insets. It's a very nice feeling and durable setup. Although some aren't used to the cloth seats no longer really being cloth anymore. The fabric seats in the newer models aren't the fuzzy cloth type anymore.

Can someone explain to me why the styling trend is to stretch the headlights back so far? What's next, the headlight housing goes all the way back to the front door? Why stop there, just make it wrap around the entire car.
