No surprise here, GT is the best all around and this just has the track package, not even a GT350 or GT500.
Eh, **** all that noise. Challenger Hellcat IMO is the best "GT car". Tremendous power, yet its a great place to go take a 10 hour road trip with its great seats and decent ride. Not to mention all that trunk room and real seats for your buddies in the back.

If you can afford a 65-70k muscle car, it tells me that you can also spring for a really nice $5000 1st gen Miata if you want something that handles telepathically.

Default This is the 2015 Shelby GT

We caught Shelby American's new Mustang GT package in Cali.

Sometimes, you get lucky. This is one of those times. What you're looking at, friends, is the heretofore-unseen 2015 Shelby GT, Shelby American's upgrade package for the new Ford Mustang.

Chris Cantle is currently on the launch event for the new Ducati Scrambler in Palm Springs, and while out riding this evening, he happened upon the new Shelby-fettled pony as it strutted its stuff for a BF Goodrich TV-commercial shoot.

As before, the Shelby GT package includes a laundry list of appearance, interior, suspension, and mild performance upgrades. This new power-dome hood is the business—well worth considering on its own if you buy a '15 Stang. Also, note how different the car looks with the silver grilles. It's more detailed...better, IMO.

A GT/SC that adds a Ford Racing blower will undoubtedly be available, too, but those wear GT/SC markings, so this example is still an all-motor Coyote underhood. It won't come cheap; pricing for the previous-gen 2014 Shelby GT package started at around $15K, with the GT/SC kit starting at $28K. Expect this to be in the same neighborhood when Shelby comes around to formally announcing its availability.

Agree 100%, if I was in the market for a car the Hellcat would get my $$. Too bad I cannot convince the wife to trade in the IS-F for one.

Default Ford Starts Shipping 2015 Mustang Convertibles to U.S. Dealers

It may be winter in the United States, but Ford has begun shipping the all-new Mustang convertible to dealers across the country.

To convince buyers that the drop-top Mustang can be comfortable to drive in the cold season as well, Ford is bragging about the available heated seats and remote start feature which allow the Mustang convertible to be enjoyed year-round.

Ford also says the selectable drive modes with a snow/wet setting allow the Mustang convertible to perform well in harsh weather conditions. “Cold weather may have come unseasonably early this year, but with available heated seats, remote start and selectable drive modes with a snow/wet setting, Mustang is the perfect offering for the season,” said Melanie Banker, Mustang brand manager.

Heated seats, which also have a cooling feature, are standard on all premium Mustang convertibles, while remote start is standard on all automatic-transmission Mustang models. The latter feature enables customers to start the engine from the comfort of their home, allowing both the engine and the car’s interior to get warm.

Selectable drive modes are also standard on premium Mustang models, with the wet/snow setting tweaking throttle response, steering effort and traction control to mitigate wheel spin and maximize vehicle control. U.S. pricing start from $29,100 for the V6 model, $34,670 for the EcoBoost and $41,600 for the GT. All prices exclude $825 destination charges.

Default Shelby Signature Edition Super Snake announced

Will be limited to 50 units

Shelby American has introduced the Signature Edition Super Snake.

Set to be offered on 2007-2014 Ford Shelby GT500s, the Signature Edition Super Snake package includes body stripes, badges and forged Weld wheels with Signature Edition center caps.

Interior changes are limited but include a unique plaque and Signature Edition floor mats. There's also a commemorative Carroll Shelby signature on the steering wheel.

Bigger changes occur under the hood, as the 5.8-liter V8 engine has been equipped with a Kenne Bell supercharger that enables it to produce up to 850 hp (634 kW / 862 PS). The car also has a cooling package which adds a new radiator, heat exchanger and aluminum cooling tanks.

Production will be limited to 50 units and pricing starts at $44,995 (excluding the cost of the car).

In a statement, Shelby American CEO Joe Conway said "With production of the current generation GT500 ending, we wanted to commemorate the sunset of an important era.

This Shelby truly changed the automotive landscape and inspired the performance competition that continues today. It’s a car worthy of being honored with a very special limited edition Shelby." He added, "The package can only be ordered available for a limited time, so ownership puts a person in a very elite club.”

Default Watch 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang Endure Severe Weather Testing At -40 Fahrenheit

Ford has shared a video featuring the brand-new 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang undergoing severe winter testing conditions. The climate chamber test will push the vehicle to its operating limits.

The new 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang is slated to arrive late 2015 and will introduce the most powerful naturally aspirated engine from the Dearborn automaker. The rad 5.2-liter flat-plane crankshaft V8 "Voodoo" engine is capable of delivering 550hp at revs as high as 8,000 rpm thanks to the lowered rotating mass of the flat-plane crankshaft.

However, all that power is nothing without control. Weather testing is an important step in vehicle development and will assure new cars will perform at their best regardless of the environmental conditions. In this video, engineers explain what the GT350 Mustang at a Ford project and testing facility is experiencing at temperatures dipping down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 Celsius).

At this Ford weather simulation facility, cars can experience temperatures as low as -40 degrees and as high as 131 degrees Fahrenheit. The facility can also simulate high humidity, the arid dry sun, varying windspeed, road load, and altitude as well.

No doubt, the 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang will be completely prepared for any inclement weather conditions. Be sure to watch engineer John Toth explain the simulated weather testing in the video below.

So is the 550hp confirmed? Any word yet on the torque? Whether you like the new Mustang or not you have to give credit to the GT350's engine.

Default First photo of New Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R

The image shows a fixed rear wing in black, which was absent from the base Shelby GT350 Mustang that had its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

We don't have any other details in our hands yet, but along with the added aerodynamic aids, the "R" model is expected to get a revised chassis and quite possibly, a bit more power under the hood.

As a reminder, the base GT350 Mustang has an atmospheric 5.2-liter V8 with "more than 500hp and 400 lb-ft of peak torque", according to the Blue Oval.

Default Shelby GT350R Mustang storms into 2015 NAIAS with 500+ HP

The most track-ready road-going production Mustang ever built

Ford has officially unveiled the Shelby GT350R Mustang at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show.

Described as “the most track-ready road-going production Mustang ever built”, the model will be launched on the market later this year, “delivering never-before-seen track capability from a Mustang”, thanks to “innovations in aerodynamics, chassis engineering and light-weighting”.

The aerodynamic kit for the Mustang includes a new hood vent, an aggressive diffusor, vented wheel wells and turbulence-reducing fender vents, wheel air curtains and side skirts. The front splitter has been revised to maximize the downforce, while an all-new high-efficiency carbon fiber rear wing has been added. Other exterior touches include red painted brake calipers, red pin striping at the edges of the optional over-the-top racing stripes and Shelby GT350R badging.

The machine is powered by the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine from Ford, featuring a flat-plane crankshaft, which optimizes high-speed engine breathing.

The 5.2-liter unit produces more than 500 HP (368 kW) and more than 542 Nm (400 lb-ft). It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and tuned limited-slip Torsen differential with 3.73 axle ratio. An electronically modulated rear-mounted air-to-oil differential cooler maintains “ideal temperatures during track driving”.

Other improvements include 19-inch lightweight carbon fiber wheels, making Ford the first major automaker to introduce this wheel technology as standard equipment. The manufacturer has removed the air conditioning, the stereo system, the rear seats, the trunk floorboard and carpet, the backup camera and the emergency tire sealer and inflator in order to achieve lower weight. Exhaust resonators also have been removed for weight savings, also creating a “sharper exhaust tone”.

Thanks to this, the car is 59 kg (130 pounds) lighter than the Shelby GT350 Track Pack model. For customers seeking comfort, Ford will be offering the Electronic Package, adding a dual-zone air conditioning, an 8-inch touch screen with navigation, a seven-speaker audio system, turn signal mirrors and more.
