I wish people who knock the Mustang's handling be forced to drive the 302. Too bad people can't think for themselves and automatically assume all Mustangs suck at handling because they heard it from somebody (so it must be true!).

if what they are putting out new is any hint, I think the next mustang is going to be off the chains.

they might apply that aston grille to it and take it to the luxury coupe side, or it will be a rendition of their fastback boss version from the 60's....maybe with a aston grille ?

This is NOT the S550 itself, as full body prototypes likely aren't running yet outside of Ford-owned facilities. Kemal Curic's design for the S550 Mustang was frozen in mid-2012 and needs a full year to have full body prototypes ready. They are just trying to throw people off, as only the A-pilar forward is the S550. The full ones are probably coming VERY soon.

Our trusty spy photographers have snapped the first photos of the 2015 Ford Mustang prototype out on public streets. With nearly every square inch of the machine covered in heavy camouflage, it's difficult to discern details, but we can see smallish horizontal headlamps at work in the coupe's nose. Ford has made it clear that modern lighting technology will allow the company to get away from large, expensive headlamp arrays in the near future, and the 2015 Mustang may very well be the first of the automaker's products to bow with the new tech. The philosophy was first displayed on the very attractive Evos Concept.

The extensive cladding doesn't extend all the way to the prototype's rockers in the instance, giving us a look at the heavily-sculpted sills. Overall, this test car looks considerably smaller than the current generation Mustang, and elements like a short front overhang and beefy dual-piston calipers give us plenty of hope for the future model. Of course, reports that the 2015 Mustang will bow with an independent rear suspension and EcoBoost power certainly don't hurt our feelings, either.

UPDATE: Chris Doane reports the 2015 Mustang is currently codenamed S550 and will come with the current 3.7-liter V6 or 5.0-liter V8 under the hood. European buyers will be able to enjoy a turbocharged four-cyliner engine option, though it's possible that engine could show up in the US as well.

If this report is true, I was wondering what would happen with the new 2.3L I4 EcoBoost and 3.7L V6 considering they both have 300hp. Makes sense for now, but CAFE may bring the I4 sooner than later

That hood line is raised a bit and it still has a little port hole in the side. i think they are going more modern with some old design cues

One issue with some of the latest Blue Ovals are the poor braking performance which include but not limited to the Taurus (non SHO), Explorer, and Mustang (non Brembo equipped models)

Under the hood, the 2015 Ford Mustang will come with a base model V6 engine while a 2.3-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder will be available as a step up with around 350 hp. On the high end, the 2015 Mustang will be powered by a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 and will be making around 450 hp, similar to the current Boss 302 offering. And the 2015 Ford Mustang will be sporting an independent rear.

As for rumors, the Ford Mustang SVT model might drop its Shelby name and its forced induction. That could mean a naturally-aspirated V8 and Ford reviving the Cobra moniker.

Expect a glimpse of the 2015 Ford Mustang before the end of this year.

I hope they ditch the 1960's Retro styling . . . .

Its been a fun ride while its lasted, but IMO 9 model years of 1960's styling throwbacks is enough. This new Mustang needs to move the style needle forward and into the future. Not sure how they'll do it, but I sure hope it doesn't look anything like the Mustang they sell right now. This needs to be the radical type of transformation that the Mustang saw in 1979, 1994, and 2005.
