They had a great design concept back in 2007 in CXF, they delivered only one car truly resembling it XJ and they made one look like it after a facelift XF. XE should have been more than some weird mixture of box and CXF details five years after the concept debut.

They escaped Ford disastrous influence only to resemble Ford once more on their own. Shame.

Two doors on the other hand...

Agree with these assessments. As for the Jaguar, I see it in similar light to Audi's. Beautiful cars, but the shape is tried and bland now, they don't stand out like they did initially. For the record I like the XE

Agree. This new Jag XE looks really bland. IS looks crazy in your face in F-sport trim in a good way, ATS design language is really unique. In styling department, I personally think this Jag doesn't looks as good as 3ser, A4 and Q50.

Looking at the entries in this class, I personally would rank the XE near the bottom. I guess I need to see one in person before passing final judgement, so we'll see.

I find it more polarizing than the BMW

The interior of the XE is more technical and cold whereas the BMW is more driver focused

I would take the "bland" XE over the 3 series any day. Looks sexier, even in a small package.

Default Jaguar planning all-wheel drive XE; V8 version considered

Future looks bright

Jaguar XE program director Nick Miller has disclosed some juicy details about the model's future.

About a month ago Miller announced coupe and wagon derivatives of the 2015 XE are being considered and now he admitted an all-wheel drive version is in the works and it will likely be one of the first updates to be applied on the firm's compact model. In addition, he also said the supercharged V8 5.0-liter engine is compatible with the XE and is being considered for a potential XE R / XE R-S high-performance variant.

Miller went on to say an inline-six 3.0-liter configuration of the existing 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium gasoline engine would also fit in the car's engine bay. Thanks to the modularity of these Ingenium engines, the XE can get a wide variety of configurations including twin-turbo, turbocharging & supercharging combined, electric supercharging as well as a hybrid setup.

Lastly, Miller said the AWD setup could be fitted on these higher performance flavors as well. Until then, the XE S will sit on top of the range with a supercharged V6 3.0-liter engine outputting 340 HP (250 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car can do 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed limited at 155 mph (250 km/h).

Likewise, depending upon depreciation, and reliability his could be my next car sometime in 2016 as the new daily driver.

Didn't see this posted,

A configurator is up for the XE. in XE, XE R-Sport and XE S trims. I counted 13 exterior colors including British Racing Green Metallic, 4 leather color choices and 6 veneer's

I would ATS or IS before I even consider those 2. Heck Q50 with conventional steering is even under consideration.
