looks like they spent on the money on the chassis and engine components and ran out by the time they got to the interior lol

The body shell is only ~500lbs... so that's 3,300lbs of "stuff."
they said they spent weight on sophisticated suspension and i guess luxury too.

How so? I see a true leather stitched dash, what looks to be actual aluminum trim and door pull levers (not just silver painted plastic), electronic shifter, electronic parking brake, etc

XE is off to a good start. Delivers so much more than the lackluster X-Type

Sounds very promising from a driveability standpoint. The exterior is handsome, but probably won't break any necks because it is derivative. It looks like an XF in front and an Infiniti Q50 in back. It should be reasonably successful. Jaguar has needed a good entry-level car for some time. If they have improved their painfully slow nav system, I'll certainly give it a test drive.

Aren't there infringement laws regarding same name paint colors? Audi also has Glacier White Metallic.

Design is of course very subjective, but I personally think it's a clean and elegant design with seemingly rich materials.

^^ if you go to the jaguar website, you can see an image without the stitched leather dash. Without that, it makes it less attractive. Also, I dislike the plain interior door panels

What Car? editor Jim Holder explains why the new Jaguar XE beats the BMW 3 Series in its first What Car? twin test.

After we declared that verdict, Jaguar asked us to make this video explaining how we’d reached our conclusions – and paid us for its creation. Watch on to find out what makes the Jaguar XE the winner in this test.

Default Martin Brundle tackles a snowy Spa-Francorchamps in the Jaguar XE S [video]

Produces 340 PS (250 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque

Jaguar has released a new video of Martin Brundle tackling Spa-Francorchamps in the 2015 XE S.

While the track is partially covered by snow and ice, it doesn't seem to faze Brundle as he puts the pedal down and lets the rear end hang out in the corners.

As a refresher, the Jaguar XE S has a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 340 PS (250 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque. It will be connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which will enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

I'm not knocking your opinion or choice of interiors (as you say, it's subjective), but do you think it is richer looking than THESE? This is what Jag interiors used to look like, up to just recently.

Your first photo is not a Jaguar, it is a tribute to the E type produced by a Swiss company called the Lionhart (see dash).

The second photo is an X type which many would argue is not a proper Jag, being the bastard brother of the Ford Mondeo.

I never said it was richer or better than older designed vehicles. And as Big Andy has noted for me, the top photo is not even a Jaguar.

Styles and preferences have changed. It seems that not many people want somewhat stuffy, overly polished/lacquered wood trims, etc. Similar to how overly floated, isolated rides with bad handling/dynamics has also fallen out of favor.

I simply was pointing out that it had elements such as real leather with stitching on the dash, what looks to be true aluminum on the air vents and door release handles, electric parking brake, etc. This seems to be well above what the BMW 3 Series and Lexus IS offer. It may seem a bit "cold" without the burled walnuts of past interiors, but that's where the trends have been. And this is only one interior configuration, there could very well be an interior set with wood trim.
