Default New color, Claret Mica?

A new color is available on the GS. Claret Mica. It looks like a darker red than Riviera Red.

http://www.lexus.com/models/GS/colors/

Selecting the color breaks the website. Perhaps this is a coding error.

Mods: Please move this thread to the 4GS forum. Thanks.

I don't know why the GS doesn't offer Matador Red....at least on the latest models. That color is stunning.......arguably (since colors are subjective) the nicest non-metallic color Lexus offers.

I agree. I love Matador Red. Garnett Pearl was very nice as well.

Claret Mica is a nice shade for the GS. Kind of a regal Burgandy

This looks like a bug on the webpage to me.

Actually, MRM is a metallic color. It has pearls/flakes in it. (Unless Im misunderstanding what you meant).

But I agree, I'm not sure why they are not offering it on the GS ... its one of my favorite OEM colors!

Certain colors can only go on for so long. MRM has been out for a long time in the color world. If companies don't offer new colors, things start getting stale. Sadly, this dooms many nice colors, like MRM.
It's only a matter of time before Starfire Pearl gets the ax. We are going on eight model years now, which is long.

The Claret Mica is a very nice looking color. It's been available on the 2GX for the last model year or two.

Picture from the 2GX forum, Thanks Koz!

Thanks...good catch. You're right...a typo on my part. I meant metallic. Sorry.

I don't see the Starfire (White) Pearl getting the ax anytime soon. It's just too popular and in too much demand with buyers....not only with Lexus products but also with Cadillac, Lincoln, Buick, Audi, and Infiniti. For some reason, though, it never seemed popular with Mercedes and BMW buyers.

Let me clarify further. Starfire may go away eventually, but it will be replaced by a new shade of pearl white with a new name. It's more of an issue of using the same old name, not the color itself that companies change out. This has just been the pattern that has taken place over the decades.

As you mentioned, the pearl white is a great seller for Lexus. But that's because it's the only white they've offered on many models. Since white is always popular, that's made it a requisite seller. It just happens to look great too, which only adds to the appeal.

As far as the Germans and pearl white, you are right... oddly it's never really caught on. Only recently has Audi and Mercedes started using. Their versions however are extremely conservative, and it's hard to even see the pearl.
