Lincoln's second, more traditional, Super Bowl commercial

For its second Super Bowl commercial, Lincoln Motor Company has stepped away from the Max Ernst-ian surrealism of the "Steer the Script" spot. No Germans, no turtles, no aliens nor alpacas this time, just a 30-second run through the ways in which Lincoln sees the 2013 MKZ as a rebirth of the brand and everything a luxury consumer would want.

The commercial was a little boring, but the car looks nice imo.

No eruptions yet.

I'm going to check out the new MKZ at the D.C. show this week (possibly today). I'll withhold comment on it until I do....and maybe get a test-drive later.

Besides, Paul and I get along just fine.

At least with its touchscreen gear selector it won't have a zig zag shifter.

I believe they are buttons and not part of the screen

Correct.....those are the transmission buttons.

The idea of dash-mounted tramsmission buttons is not new, though. Chrysler products used them on the three-speed Torqueflite automatic from the late 50s till 1966 (I first learned to drive on one), and some of the Edsels from the late 50s used them in the middle of the steering wheel.

I agree. Those zig-zag shifters, IMO, s**k.
