Those all sounded pretty good, especially the 650i. I want one of those.

R8 gets my vote. I was next to one couple of days ago and wow made me jealous. But I think it had aftermarket exhaust though

#5 Porsche 911 Carrera S
#4 Chevrolet Grand Sport Corvette
#3 BMW 650i XDrive
#2 Chevrolet Camro ZL1
#1 Audi RX V10 5.2 Quattro

I don't find the sounds of the 911 appealing at all. It's an excellent car, but I'm not a fan of flat 6's

Wow, I totally agree about the 911. Nastiest sound ever, like an anemic vw

No mustang GT???

I personally love the sound of a Porsche flat six, even those anemic ones from the late 70's/early 80's had a nice ring to them.

As for that Corvette Grand Sport, like all Corvettes with the dual mode mufflers, they are lame. They sound anemic and pathetic until that buttlerfly valve opens up in the mufflers, then they sound awesome. Seriously, my old 1999 Camaro with the LS1 and the muffler hacked off with two chrome tips out the back sounded way more aggressive, especially at idle and part throttle.

Also, where is the wail of a Ferrari 458 Italia in that list???

Best sounding street car ever made IMO, the Ferrari F40. If you listen closely, you can hear the wastegates over the wail of that 3.0 liter V8

Agreed the Omission of the LFA V10, 458 V8, and SLS GT 6.2 V8 is disconcerting

Was the Porsche the only car on that list with a 6 cylinder engine? If so, then I guess that's why it's at the bottom of the list.

And reinforces the statement: "When it comes to engine sound, there is no replacement for displacement.....and cylinder count".

P.S.
What's the criteria limit for this limit? If there's none, then they should include the LFA, Lamborghini Aventador and Bugatti Veyron SuperSport in this list

I don't agree with that, a V-twin Harley sounds pretty mean(and obnoxious if the owner likes to wind it up past your house at 2:00am)

You said exactly what I was thinking. The 458, & F40 definitely belong there, though I'm assuming the "Tested Recently" is what ruled out these & other similar cars. The biggest issue is the sound of that Corvette on 2 pipes. My Mazda sounds meaner than that thing with half the exhaust. That said, opened up, it's the best sounding in the bunch by far.
