They need to redo the interior since all trims except the limited look cheap. Their 5.7L is still ranging around the top end.

Interior Definitely needs a big redo. The 5.7L is very smooth and powerful. Not super fuel efficient, but not many trucks are, especially in real world usage.

HP. Torque. Load and towing capacity.

If the engine is a carryover, Toyota's gonna have a hard sell.
The engine alone does not dictate the load and towing capacity. There is also the suspension and the frame design, both of which may change even if the body on top does not change that much.

The frame of the current Tundra (which is not a fully boxed frame from front to back) may be its weak point.

Fully Boxed Frames are nice as a marketing point. But it's interesting that the Ford Heavy Duties, F-250/350, etc. do NOT use a fully boxed frame. There are ways to have strong frames with sections of closed and C-Frame.

Marketing tool or not, when 4 out of the 5 half ton truck makers offer fully boxed frames, Toyota also needs to bring a fully boxed frame to the party.

If Toyota wants to gain market share and compete better, they have to bring a fully boxed frame.

Then does Ram need to bring a leaf spring rear suspension to its 1500? They even had the audacity to introduce a 4 corner air suspension...

Nope, not correct.

Ram 1500 uses multilink coil spring rear suspension standard.

But getting off topic now

This is definitely a refresh, NOT a redesign. This will likely be similar to the refresh the Tacoma got, or maybe a bit more significant than that.

A fully redesigned model won't arrive for another few years.

The interior likely will be an upgrade, along with a more modern exterior. I doubt we'll be seeing new powertrains, as that would be asking too much from a refresh.

Looking forward to seeing what's in store. Hoping to see Toyota expand its use of DI motors in new models. So far it's awfully limited. I agree that odds are it will be mostly cosmetic, Booo.

I agree with you, I think it will be a heavy refresh kinda like the LS460. For sure there will be no new powertrains, I hope there is a new frame.

On the Ram 1500, its a solid rear axle with coil springs, panhard bar, torque arm, lower control arms, and a stabilizer bar. Just like the rear end GM has put in all their old school Chevelles, big sedans, Camaros, etc from the 60's to the 90's. The competition still uses leaf springs and a solid rear axle, the Ram uses a more advanced setup because it rides better unloaded.

Its not a modern, fully independent rear suspension like in any RWD car built in the past 20 years.

TundraSolutions is saying there is a very strong possibility of new and or significantly updated powertrains. We will see tomorrow.

Toyota hasn’t revealed details of the new Tundra, but Bob Carter, senior vice president of U.S. auto operations, told Bloomberg: “We’re going to be a bigger player in the pickup market.”
i dont really care since it is not sold in Europe but still interesting...
