OP mentioned the Civic Si engine, which is pathetic and not even the least bit comparable to the Audi 2.0T. The Audi engine will blow the Civic Si engine right outta the water in terms of performance, and it's more efficient too.

As for Acura, people don't pay 50k for any of them so it doesn't matter what engine they offer.
I doubt it. The best selling Acura, MDX, is well over 50K with Advance Package. New one will be even more expensive and it will move out of the lot.

And what's that 2% of Acura sales? Historically they are nearly non-existent over 50k. But don't worry no one wants a 25k ILX either

Man A5 is EASILY one of the best looking cars out there. I'm not surprised people are willing to fork that much cash out for it.

It's a head-turner EVERY time. Audi has the best designs in the luxury car market right now bar none.

50k is also really close to Corvette money. I think I'd take the Corvette.

2%? Where did you get that number? Strange that Acura outsell Audi every single month in the US. I agree with you, ILX is not wanted, but it doesn't change the fact that MDX moves out of the lot everyday with 50K price tag. I wish they would redesign TSX instead of making ILX.

Forget the horsepower number with the Audi. It's all about torque. The 0-60 numbers are quite impressive, as well as the mpg's. Audi has enjoyed wild success with the A5... I wouldn't question their recipe.

Despite the 210hp figure, Audi is able to put out some impressive acceleration numbers thanks to the new 8 speed automatic transmission.

They start in the upper-30's, not 50k. A nicely equipped premium plus model is low-40's. Sure if you click every single option box including radar cruise control, you'll land at over $50k. That's true for most German cars.

It's an Audi , just like how Lexus is able to sell the GS and LS sure there are more powerful cars and maybe better cars but image! Come on! Its just like how BMW is about to release the 4 cylinder 3-Series that thing i'm sure will eat into sales of the ILX and CT200h its a BMW and because of that it it will sell. Infinti and Acura simply don't have
that image I see more JX and more MDX than their newest sedans.

yep, no way I would spend $50K on an A5 --- I bought my wife's 2010 A5 with 3000 miles on it for $36K (in Feb 2012) the MSRP sticker price was $44K.

oh and I did buy a used Acura TSX with the Civic Si motor...hahaha....I actually like the styling, IMO the car is a step above the Accord or Civic, and they come completely loaded, only option is NAV (mem seas, autodim mirror, heated leather, etc). of course I only paid $21K for it too.

Different strokes for different folks. If you want the best performance car in this class/price range, then get a Corvette. If your priority is a sexy exterior, then the A5 is your car. If you want luxury and performance, then check out the G37.

I personally have high hopes for the upcoming Lexus coupe that will compete against the A5.
