Nissan teases Resonance Concept, possible Murano successor
Not wanting to be left out of the teaser fun that comes before the Detroit Auto Show – don't forget amidst all this obscured-view hubbub that the actual show starts next week Monday – Nissan has deposited this partial image of what it is calling the Resonance Concept on its Facebook page. Save for letting us know that the real deal will be unveiled on January 15, no information has been given in concert with the mysterious picture.
Given the distinctly crossover-esque shape of the rendered vehicle, it's a pretty good guess that the Resonance will preview the design direction for either a new Murano or Rogue, with our money being on the former. Expect the concept to feature a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain, and some truly impressive LED real estate on its backside. Much more info to come next week – live from the floor of Cobo.

Nissan moving next-gen Murano production from Japan to Mississippi
Nissan moving next-gen Murano production from Japan to Mississippi
Celebrating 10 years of operation at its Canton, Mississippi assembly plant, Nissan has announced that it will be adding a seventh vehicle to the plant's portfolio. Starting in 2014, production of the next-generation Murano will move from Japan to Mississippi alongside its platform mate, the Altima, which is a part of Nissan's plan to build 85 percent of its US products domestically.
In addition to the Altima, the Canton facility also produces the Armada, Xterra, Titan, Frontier and NV vans, and back in June, production of the Nissan Sentra production was moved to Canton creating an extra 1,000 jobs. At this point, there is no indication about how many jobs the Murano line will add, if any.
This is the second announcement this week of production being added in the US as Honda said that the Accord Hybrid production would move to Marysville, Ohio where the standard Accord sedan is currently built.
The new Murano will be inspired by the Resonance Concept, which was teased in the image above earlier this week and will debut next week at the Detroit Auto Show.

Beauty being in the eyes of the beholder, we happen to like our Mo. Its been trouble free, and we don't worry about finding it in a parking lot! It also happens to be quite sporty to drive, which was the key reason we switched from an RX. The Resonance concept looks good. Wonder how it will translate into the next generation.

2015 Nissan Murano confirmed for Geneva reveal
Riding on the Altima architecture
Nissan has indirectly announced the next generation of the Murano will be introduced in a couple of weeks at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
The Japanese marque says at the Swiss show next month they will exhibit the "next member of Nissan's rejuvenated crossoverfamily" which can only mean they are referring to the 2015 Murano. Previous rumors indicated an April reveal at the New York Auto Show but it seems we won't have to wait that long for what will be a mid-size crossover with styling cues taken from the Resonance concept.
The third generation of the Nissan Murano will likely utilize the same architecture as the Altima and will keep roughly the same physical dimensions as the outgoing model. Under the hood it is expected to receive an uprated 3.5-liter V6 linked to a CVT while a plug-in hybrid derivative is also a possibility with the technology borrowed from the Pathfinder Hybrid where the system churns 250 bhp (186 kW) and 329 Nm (243 lb-ft) from a 2.5-liter supercharged gasoline engine and an electric motor.
On a final note, Nissan has allegedly decided to axe the weird Murano CrossCabriolet due to slow demand.
