GM Denies 2015 Corvette Z06's Rumored 6:59.13 Nürburgring Lap Time, Says "Is Not Correct"
http://www.carscoops.com/2015/01/gm-...s-rumored.html
From early this morning, there's a rumor going around that the new 2015 Corvette Z06 lapped the Nürburgring in an amazing 6:59,13, but we're here to tell that it's not true.
If it were, the Corvette Z06 would have been the fourth fastest production car on the Nordschleife, two seconds behind the Porsche 918 Spyder (6:57).
The story seems to have originated on Horsepowerkings (you probably remember them from their report on Ford dropping V8 engines from 2017 which was debunked, and their claims that the Mustang GT350R lapped the 'Ring in 7:32.19, which we question as well), and quickly spread on other sites, and we quote Horsepowerkings:
"According to fresh reports, the 2015 Corvette Z06 has run a lap time of 6:59.13 at Nurburgring, and the HD on-board video will be released 'soon'. What do we know about this run? It was done in a production 2015 C7 Z06, and the car was equipped with the Z07 aerodynamics package, along with GM’s new 8L90 eight-speed transmission. That is all the information we have at this point, but we do expect more (official) information to be released in coming weeks."
We contacted Chevrolet Spokesman Monte Doran and asked him about the alleged report. This is what he told Carscoops:
"Simply put, that number is not correct," said Doran. "We accumulated nearly 1,000 miles of testing on the Nurburgring with the Z06. However, as you know, there are very limited opportunities to get a lap on video at the ‘Ring. Both opportunities we had to record a lap on video were rained out. We have decided not to release a lap, as we don’t have the video to back up a time. When we get a chance to run a fast lap for video, we will publish an official time."

Z06 Vette Looks The Part Riding on ADV.1 Wheels
Click here to view more photos
Recipe for success: Take America's no.1 true sports car, and fit it with a set of ADV10 Track Spec CS Series wheels. The end result is pretty darn good.
Did we say sports car? Totally meant to say supercar. It's 6.2 liter supercharged V8 puts down 650 HP and 880 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque, which together take the Z06 from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.1 seconds. That's a lot of muscle to flex, and when your car looks this good doing it, why not give it a treat and fit it with a set of custom wheels?
The ADV10 CS Series wheels are finished in Matte Black and measure 20x10.5 up front with 21x12.5 out back. It's also a great idea to fit black wheels on a red and black car, since these two colors basically love each other and the camera agrees. It is a Corvette after all.
Those guys did a great job on the photoshoot too, but hey, when your car looks this good, it's hard to catch it from a bad angle.
For those of you who don't know, ADV.1 Wheels stands for Advanced One Wheels Inc, and they specialize in the design, manufacturing and marketing of luxury bespoke wheels, reaching as far as 40 countries worldwide. It's safe to say, they do a great job.
Also, take a look at this great set of ADV05|S M.V2 CS wheels they used on this beautiful white 911 Targa.

New Corvette Z06 Faces Off Against Japan’s Finest, the NISMO GT-R
Oh, what a hard decision it would be to choose between the all-new Chevy Corvette Z06 and the Nissan GT-R Nismo. Both have 600-ish hp, although the Nissan is heavier, and both sprint off the line like stabbed rats – under 3 seconds for the GT-R and just over 3 for the Z06.
The two cars were put to the test comparatively by MotorTrend in what I think is one of their most enjoyable head-to-head videos in a while. It has something to do with the fact that the cars are kind-of evenly matched, although the Vette is faster once on the move, and even in the corners it’s super-close.
In fact, the Z06 recorded higher lateral G than the GT-R and also recorded a better figure eight time than it. Its tires may have given it the edge, as they are the uber-sticky Michelin Pilot Cup 2s. They also help it stop quicker too.
Enough reading; check out the video after the virtual jump!

Meet the World's First Ever 9-Second 1/4 Mile Corvette Z06
The C7 Corvette Z06 is still arguably America's no1 sports car and one of the fastest cars to ever come out of the States. It's good enough to perform on both road and track, as well as on the drag strip.
Speaking of which, most people who get to visit the drag strip are happy to walk away with a 10-second quarter mile time. Not so much the guys over at Fasterproms, who took the 6.2 liter V8 unit and bumped it up to 714 WHP and 976 Nm (720 lb-ft) of torque.
They gave it a new supercharger, a custom 2.31 pulley, air box, thermal reduction plates, flex fuel kit, more coolant capacity, ARH 1.875 headers and a set of 315/30/18 Hoosier drag radials.
We're really impressed with the way they ran the car over at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida. To nail a 9.87 seconds 1/4 Mile is a huge result - and they did it at 222 km/h (138 mph).
Watching this Z06 blast off with so much force is terrific, especially since it looks like it put all its power down without any issues right off the line.

Widebody Corvette Stingray by Forgiato Looks Magnificent
We've seen our share of great looking Vettes throughout the years, especially with this latest C7 generation, but this thing may just take the cake.
At first we didn't know what to make of the bright gold chrome wrap, but Forgiato knew what they were doing and we have to admit, its a great fit for the C7 Stingray.
As with any widebody kit (which is a great way to ensure everybody is going to love your car), you've got your flared arches, in the front and in the back..as Fergie would put it. Then there's the custom front splitter, the rear bootlid lip spoiler and of course the matte black 5-spoke wheels with chrome gold accents.
Naturally the car sounds amazing too, and the presentation video is beautifully put together, so we're going to tip our hats here.
Considering the fact that gold is really hard to pull off in the car industry, these guys made it look effortless.
Overall, we think it's even better looking than their 2013 SEMA car, the "Aston Martin blue" C7 Stingray.

What kind of effect does 50 years have on a car? In this video, Edmunds.com finds out by pairing a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with its long-term 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray test car. Both cars share a name, cylinder count and arrangement, but the similarities end there. Watch to see how big an effect half a century can have on a car.
