Acura to Debut the All-New 2014 MDX Prototype at the 2013 North American International Auto Show

12/12/2012, LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Acura announced today that it will unveil a prototype of the next-generation MDX luxury sport utility vehicle during the press days of the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), held in Detroit over January 14-15. Utilizing "Aero Sculpture" design language affecting both form and function, the 2014 MDX Prototype will feature alluring proportions with smooth, arching body lines matched to an efficient architecture.

The press conference will be broadcast live at www.acurawebcast.com. Media information, high-resolution images and video of the 2014 MDX Prototype will be available at www.acuranews.com immediately following the press conference.

If the real production version looks close to this rendering, Honda has another winner. Current MDX outdoes most luxury SUVs out there.

Previous design language was Keen Edge Dynamics, which was before RLX.

The biggest thing Acura needs to do is dump the shield grille. It's intrusive and brings down every model it's on. There's just no way around it.

The spy pics don't look anything like this prototype. But the MDX is arguably the best SUV in its class so there's really not much for Acura to improve upon but minor tweaks.

mdx needs upgraded drivetrain, upgraded interior, and not much else.

I guess the jewel eye headlights are the new thing for Acura. Yes they will likely sell very well as the current model does as well.

The design has matured a bit, but it takes a trained eye to see the differences. I do like it, but wish they had gone a bit farther in the redesign. Conservative but handsome.
