That's like saying I can't believe Lexus complicated their predator grille with the 3IS's headlights. To the MDX's defense, if this thing only appeals to the Honda crowd and no one else then it will sell like hotcakes. The current gen has been selling great with just mild updates during its lifetime.
Try harder, made no sense.

Amazing. So all those years Lexus got bashed for being bland people should go back and edit comments since now we are told its fine for the competition to be bland.

Holy double standard batman.
... Anyways, I've always said the Lexus RX was boring but it was a perfectly good SUV for those who crave reliability and aren't seeking driving pleasure. And that's why its been selling like hotcakes the entire time its been out. I rarely see posts that call the RX an actually bad vehicle.
When people call the RX bland, they were talking both styling AND driving dynamics. The current-gen MDX didn't suffer from bland driving dynamics in the slightest. Lexus met us grumpy people in the middle with the update in regards to styling, with what I think is the most well done application of the new grille yet. It's bland with just a touch of style just like everyone else.
By basic shape, I mean "the basic line"and shape of the front and rear. Shield grill is still bland, front and rear light still keep the same basic shape.
The last time acura tried to do something exciting, this was the result........
So yeah, I'm ok with acura leaving things as they are, or sticking to subtle changes at most.
